. Sony introduces the ECM-B1M Digital Shotgun Microphone for interchangeable lens cameras. . Advanced digital signal processing makes it possible to offer three switchable directivity patterns in one versatile microphone: super- directional, unidirectional, and omnidirectional. Eight high-performance microphone units work with a newly developed beamforming algorithm to provide extremely sharp directivity that effectively rejects off-axis sound. All of this is achieved in a remarkably compact microphone that is only 99. 3mm in length. . A low-cut filter that cuts out subsonic noise is also implemented through digital signal processing, maximising audio quality at the recording stage and thereby reducing the need for complex post processing. . No need for extra cables or batteries! Simply clip the microphone into the Multi Interface Shoe on a compatible camera for direct power and audio connections. . The ECM-B1M is supplied with a fur type wind screen that can reduce wind noise when shooting outdoors.

The Highest Quality Audio I have for my Sony Cameras. From Wildlife filming to interviews, this shotgun mic gives superbly crisp audio. Easy to use and such high quality beats out even my lapel mics for interviews. I’d buy again for sure.

Spendy, make sure the hotshoe mount is your best option. It complicates things and doesn't work anywhere else. When it works where it works, it's great.

I bought this to have for both of my Sony cameras, an a6400 and a FX30 For the FX30 is flawless, you get to use all of the options included with the microphone and the quality is incredible For the a6400, um, yeah… it only supports analog mode which introduces some hizzing and less tuning options to get the sound you want, so I would recommend a Rode Mic Go 2 (if you need shotgun) or a wireless one And my last gripe, the dangling… oh boy, that damn sound is a sneaky bastard, sometimes you will notice when recording, but most of the time you won't until you are editing... The shock mount of this mic dangles around making noices and it's very hard to edit it out, so if you can tape the damn mic to its base or only use it when on a tripod, cause on the go, either for vlogging or recording things in movement it can actually ruin the the audio. And I wish it was a bit cheaper, while the quality can be pristine, it also can be ruined by multiple factors

I really Like this mic I use it on my ZV-1 and my ZV-E10 and it works perfectly well on both cameras I use it for videos for my YouTube channel and so far so good sound is very clear and it is very light to cary in my camera bag and take anywhere. I recommend it Sony did it again no wires!

Too much handling noise Too much handling noise

I really wanted to like this mic with all the glowing reviews and positive feedback on YouTube. It didn't really work for me, the handling noise is excessive with my FX3 even when mounted on a stand or just resting on my desk. Every 30 seconds I hear a loud "thump" noise, but of course even more often if I'm holding the camera. Yes, this mic is convenient for a minimalist setup because of the MI Shoe connection and the sound quality is pretty good. But for $350 I don't think it's worth it. I got a $150 Saramonic Vmic5 Pro and yes it's much bigger and connects to 3.5mm, but the Vmic5 Pro sounds better and has zero handling noise with the included shock mount. I have it mounted on the cold shoe on the Smallrig Hawklock cage.
