I did my homework and priced out several lenses that were comparable to this one. I almost pulled the trigger on a Sigma 100-400mm but saw the Sony 70-350mm was on sale and went with it instead. I ordered the Amazon Basics UV lens filter just before it arrived, for protection of my investment! The lens is excellent quality, feels hefty but not to the point where it’s too heavy to handle. It produces sharp photos on my a6000 camera thanks to the OSS feature that keeps it steady while you’re focusing on your subject. While it was a big investment for me, I think the lens was worth it and I’m very happy with the purchase. This lens will make you want to go out a take more photos! ... show more

Using a Sony a6500 on a Manfrotto tripod and a Surface 7. Eclipse shot taken April 8th/24 on the north shore of Lake Erie. Moon shot taken Feb 26/24 near Fort Lauderdale. Whether it's action or landscapes, this lens is beautiful. Coming from a 55-210 kit lens it's a huge step up with a lot more reach. Highly recommended if you can find a good deal.

Got this lens on sale somehow was 39% off…didn’t realize there was a spec of some sort inside the lens which is impossible to wipe off. at some focal lengths the spec/specs are super noticeable in the photos. ruining otherwise great shots…i can return it for a refund but then i will have to pay full price since the price has went back up 39%…there is no option to replace…if the seller reaches out to me id gladly replace it…not fair to spend over $600 for a defective lens and not be able to replace it without spending 39% more then i originally paid. ... show more

I love this lens. Mostly its size. My regret is I didn’t originally purchase this lens instead of the Sigma 100-400. I had debated for a while and I guess I really wanted a lens to use with my new a7c. Turns out I ended up mostly using it in crop mode or on my a6500 to get more reach. Also, because of the larger size of the sigma I found myself mostly leaving it at home while traveling. After about 6 months with the glass I found a buyer and quickly purchased this G lens which I adore. Images are comparable in quality yet in a package I can justify carrying around in my sling or bag. Size does matter guys (and gals). If it’s too large, you’ll end up leaving it at home and not getting enough use out of it. Do yourself a favor and go for the lighter package. UPDATE AFTER 3 MONTHS. I still love the lens, I’m taking it on trips now and loving it. I was pleasantly surprised this last trip, when I was using it on my A7C and at 70mm, You don’t need to crop the image. I can shoot at 70 which makes it wider than the 100-400 i had before. I find that being able to shoot at 70mm makes this lens more practical than the sigma I previously had. (Because of the crop factor i thought my true focal length would be 105-525 but it’s actually, 70,105-525) so it’s a nice bonus. ... show more
