  • Sounds good, but still refined.
Style: Sub 9
If you are already thousands into your Bravia setup, and only want more bass, 2x of these will fix the need. If you are thinking of going all in on a bravia system, for 2800$ ive spent on my Bar 8, 1x Sw-5 2x Sw-9 and Rear 5's I would probably get the dragon system. This thing moves some serious air. Bass goes down low, i think min freq is 20hz or maybe a lil lower. Much better than Sw-5. Finally enough to upset the neighbors. Easy to connect as is any bravia product. At 600 each, finally made sense. 900 each was wild. ... show more

  • Theatre sounds
Style: Sub 9
After getting used to the 360 spiral, it sound like you in a theatre, crispy clear, all around you, TV and gaming, highly recommend it, the sound bar and sub woffer won't disappoint.

  • Bravia subwoofer
Style: Sub 9
It was a bit of a challenge to set up, but otherwise it has been performing as expected. A very good addition to the Bravia TV and Theater Bar.

  • Lacks Base
Style: Sub 9
I compared this with the SA-SW5, plugging and recalibrating. It seems that SA-SW5 has more oomph! than the new model. I've tested music, games, and movies that would test the bass and for the sub 9, I would have to turn the sub category volume up to 10 in the app to get some bass. For example, when playing shooters every shot you that I would shoot, I could feel the thump with the SA-SW5 sub. The SA-SW5 bass can be felt when I have it at 0 and not have it maxed out in the app sub category. Btw, I used the Bar 9 plus and the new Sony rear 9 speakers. I hear with the Quad you get bass, so I wouldn't know. ... show more

  • Transformative upgrade for the Bravia Theater Quad
Style: Sub 9
I recently upgraded/replaced my SA-SW5 subwoofer connected to a Bravia Theater Quad with this new SA-SW9. This new sub has been a substantial improvement in low-end extension and more seamlessly integrates with the Bravia Quad’s sound profile. The hand off in frequency range is more natural with bass that fills my living room more adequately without the boominess I experienced with the SW5 that, at times, overwhelmed the rest of the audio mix. The SW9 is more effortless, provides more texture and air to the audio mix, and does not distort or rattle at higher volumes across the music and Dolby Atmos tests I have performed across my content library. A great movie to test is Bladerunner 2049. The opening crawl of the film has a Hans-Zimmer mix that is, at times, staggering in its scope and the SW9 handles this stress test with aplomb. While a bit pricy, it’s well worth the upgrade for owners of the SW5 or SW3. And for those who don’t have a subwoofer for their theater quad or compatible Sony system, I highly recommend this unit as an essential purchase. Last note, setup was simple via the Bravia connect app. Just follow the instructions in the box and press the connect button on the subwoofer when prompted via the app. It connected quickly and I was able to hear the difference almost immediately. ... show more

  • Pounds on Pounds on Bass!!
Style: Sub 9
I really wanted to love this "theatre trio" setup with the Rear 9s and Subwoofer 9, but it is a massive disappointment. For a premium audio system, the performance is completely broken and misses the mark. • Frustrating Volume Inconsistency: The sound level is all over the place. It’s extremely low on some content and painfully loud on others. Most of the time, I have to crank the volume way up just to hear things clearly, but the second I switch to certain apps, the volume explodes and is way too loud. You shouldn't have to babysit the remote constantly. • The Soundbar & Center Channel: While the front left and right separation is just passable, the center channel is terrible. It completely lacks clarity, making dialogue sound muddy, which forces you to raise the volume even more just to understand what people are saying. • The Rear 9s: These are almost nonexistent. There is absolutely nothing that "wows" me or offers a true surround sound experience. They add almost zero immersion. • The Subwoofer 9: This is easily the only good part of the entire package. The Sub 9 has a ton of power and deep bass, but a great subwoofer cannot make up for how awful and frustrating the rest of the system sounds. Final Verdict: If you are considering this vs. the Bravia Theatre Quad, save your money. Compared to the Quad, this setup sounds downright horrible. Between the muddy dialogue, nonexistent rears, and constant volume adjusting, it is not a good audio system. 1 out of 5 stars. ... show more
