    • Great Camera, not the best choice for an impatient novice though.
I'm a little torn on reading the reviews. The camera itself, a fine piece of engineering. It's definitely not a camera choice I would make if I were a beginner. Based on the fact that Sony's menu system is so incredibly deep. A novice may find more confusion within that rabbit hole than they signed up for. I did find when using the A74 for 4k video, it will overheat. At the time, my environmental temperature was only 74 degrees F. There is a setting in the setup menu that can be switched to a higher system shutdown setting. I was testing the HAVC S-I 4k setting. I managed to get about 12 minutes of record time before system shut down. Recording set to Slot 1, on a 1TB Express A card. So, no additional taxing on the system. After switching over the (Setup Toolbox menu, #9, "Auto Power off Temp") set to High, I haven't had much of an issue. Though I did purchase an external cooling fan (Amazon search Sony A74 cooling fan) for when summer temps arrive. I don't know if it will work, but the added piece of mind for 30 bucks, I figured why not.? As for the bundle... It wasn't needed. But for the extra few bucks, again, I figured why not..? It arrived missing a few listed components. However, reaching out to the seller, they quickly and honorably satisfied things that were amiss. Kudos to them. Hold in your mind though, as a novice buyer, the items in this bundle will not really assist you in your goals. I honestly gave the contents of the bundle with the exception of the lens cleaning kits, and camera bag to my son as he's now learning the hobby. :) The included tripod and other little do-dads, they're not sturdy enough for the weight of the Sony A7 and a lens longer than the stock kit lens. Those would be better suited as a traveling led light stick stand or mic stand. They're uber thin and flimsy. At least the tripod that came in my bundle was this way. 6 dollar tripod holding a near 3k camera... Bwa'haha.... Overall, I'm impressed. Great camera. Seller customer service, I was handled respectfully and in a timely manner. Switching over from Canon, this will fill in the void of my kit. (That or I just really wanted to try one out, 'A74' and just went for it.) ... show more

    • The Perfect All-Rounder Hybrid Camera
If you shoot both photo and video, this is the gold standard. The autofocus is mind-blowing, it locks onto eyes instantly and refuses to let go. Switching between photo and video modes is seamless thanks to the dedicated dial, and the 33MP sensor gives you plenty of room to crop. My only minor gripes are that it runs a bit warm during long 4K/60p recording sessions, and there is a slight crop in that mode. But for 95% of creators, this is the ultimate workhorse. The camera itself is great. It’s pretty complicated for someone that doesn’t know a thing about cameras. The battery life is less than ideal as it lasted me a couple hours just taking photos. The software advertised doesn’t come with the camera. Instead you get a postcard looking piece with a QR code on it. It’s supposed to give you two codes for video and photo editing plus an annual subscription to Movavi. I received to codes when I redeemed it. Once code for the photo editor worked, but the code for the video editor did not work. I was also not given a code for annual subscription. I’m pretty frustrated with the way this was advertised, it’s a lot of money to pay to not get exactly what you were promised. ... show more
