  • Sony apsc flagship at a bargain price!
Style: Body only
Yes the brand new a6700 is just released at $1,398.00/body, and if you are a hybrid or video-centric shooter, it is a BIG step up from the a6600. BUT if you are primarily a stills photographer, the a6600 is a steal at $998.00/body (had been $1,398.00). This camera has an incredible suite of capabilities, big battery, great eye autofocus, custom buttons up the wazoo and feels great in the hand. I prefer the tilt screen, and it's still no slouch for videos. I upgraded from an a6000, added the new-ish Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 zoom as a walk-around lens to augment a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 prime and the results are fantastic. Don't waste your money on a kit lens, get this Sigma zoom for your Sony apsc and don't look back. ... show more

  • Incredible photography tool
Style: w/18-135mm
OK, so it ain't cheap but the results are amazing. I have a m43 outfit as well which is ALMOST as good. Almost. When I want quick and accurate AF the a6600 is the champ. Image quality superb. I have a lot of difficulty seeing a difference with full frame images, and when you consider the cost, size and weight of full frame cameras & lenses, the a6600 is a no-brainer. Very pleased with this purchase!! ... show more

  • Great sharp camera and when paired with the Sony La-ea 5, old minolta and sony alpha lenses shine!
Style: Body only
Very happy with the new A6600, especially using it with the Sony Le-ae alpha 5 mount adaptor which allows the older screw driven minolta lenses to work their glorious magic. I include a night shot from Busch gardens 2021 Christmas town at the clock tower. I used the Minolta 30-70 mm F4 lens at 35mm(52 mm ff equiv) Iso 2000 at 1/80th secs hand held with just a light touch of lightening in edit.. otherwise straight from the camera. This was just using the auto selection. No detectable noise and no NR needed in PP. Your old alpha glass with the Le5 adaptor responds quickly while auto focusing, even the old screw driven glass. There is no slt mirror like that in the the La-ea4 so focusing with the older glass happens at the sensor...no micro adjustments needed.(The option is available if you are using the Le2 or the le 4 adaptors on these cameras as per the instructions) Get the "Dave" book for the a6600 that goes into better detail as to how to work the camera and the PDF of the SONY manual is on the purchase page of this camera as well. it doesn't have a built in flash but many lowlight shots don't need one as the noise floor for darker shots has been dramatically lowered in the higher ISO ranges. Many options are available for flash or steady light options with adjustable lumens if desired. Battery life is good for single shots but I'm not a video shooter so others will have better insights as to how long the battery lasts with video. 400 shots in so far with the Le-ae5 in place with 80 percent battery still showing Edit 5/23/23: Camera still going strong and for those who don't know this or have read wrong info...this camera DOES have IBIS or in body stabilization image stabilization.(*and a very effective one!!) I added this edit after reading an amazon review that said the 6600 did not have this feature. ... show more

  • Dad going from Canon T3i to A6600
Style: Body only
I have been using a Canon G9x, Canon G7x ii, and T3i (mostly with 17-50mm 2.8, 70-250mm, 50mm 1.4). I used the t3i for pictures of my kids (sports, portraits, etc). I really needed faster burst shooting and better focus for track meets. I wanted to stay with Canon (just because that is what I'm familiar with), but I wasn't happy with EF-M options (bodies and lenses). I didn't want to go full frame (f2.8 lenses $$$). I decided I wanted to go mirrorless, and I couldn't wait for some rumored Canon APS-C mirrorless. So, I ended up going with A6600 + Tamron 17-70 2.8 + Tamron 70-180mm 2.8 + sigma adapter for 50mm 1.4. I'm very happy. The fast burst speed is great. A bigger buffer would be nice, but not a big deal for me. The focus is everything I was hoping it would be. I love the eye focus. I love the subject tracking. I love that there are so many focus options (area size, position, tracking, flex, etc). I'm also very happy with the size of the 2 lenses. Some people, complain that the touch screen can't be used for the menu. That doesn't bother me at all. I prefer buttons. I don't use the touch screen for menus on my Canon G7X. I prefer the ergonomics of my T3i. I miss the front dial, but I'm quickly getting used to the top/rear dials. I first ordered the a6400, but the grip just felt too small for the 70-180 lens, so I didn't use it at all. I put it right back in the box and ordered the a6600. I'm much happier with the bigger grip. I like the bigger battery. The extra custom buttons and the IBIS are a nice bonus. ... show more

  • Excellent value
Style: Body only
I felt the a6700 offered “marginal” improvements over the a6600, so I opted for this instead, and saved a few bucks - which I used for “dressing it up” with a cage, and a really nice lens. No regrets here!
