I bought this camera because I was looking to move up from my A7iii, but the A7V hasn't been released yet. I tried out the A7iv during a trip to Antarctica and LOVED the photo quality, but the size was a little cumbersome and made packing extra lenses and things just a little bit trickier. When I knew I was headed to Australia and New Zealand, I figured I'd give this camera a try, and I loved it. The autofocus was really helpful, especially when I was trying to capture various animals at the animal parks. I loved the slightly smaller size, even though I have large hands, I still found it comfortable. The smaller price tag meant I was able to get a little bit of a nicer zoom for the trip, which I enjoyed as well. Overall, I have been really happy with this camera, and while I intended it to be my travel camera, it has become my every occasion choice now. ... show more

    • Full Frame Compact That Delivers
An amazing camera that does everything right. The body is super compact, and lightweight. The EVF, and touch-screen are amazingly bright and the camera controls are well positioned. The image quality is excellent as is the video. For the price point this little full frame beast can do it all.

    • Great Travel Camera.
Bought this a replacement travel camera for my Fujix100v. The Fuji was great for travel but having a fixed lens was a downgrade. The Sony brings a full frame sensor, incredible auto focus and of course a host of available lenses. Very small and lightweight makes it easy to carry for all day adventures. Image quality is outstanding as Sony has upped their game on sensors. Low light performance is there as well for those late evening escapades. The biggest issue is the menu system. It’s not great but better than what it has been in the past. I’m a professional photographer who shoots Canon gear and their menu system is way ahead. Barring the menu system (you adapt to it) this is a great travel camera. I can not recommend it for professional use due to it only having a single card slot. The most amazing travel camera - small and packed with pro level quality video - my favorite camera in years - love the form factor small to fit in your pocket almost - autofocus is insane - shooting raw, slog etc I recomand it - you won’t regret the purchase

    • Defective unit – intermittent black screen and system freeze
I purchased a Renewed Sony Alpha a7C II and unfortunately received a defective unit. During normal use, the camera intermittently goes completely black (both the rear LCD and electronic viewfinder) for 3–6 seconds when transitioning between bright and dark scenes (for example, moving from a bright wall to a darker ceiling). While this happens, the camera becomes fully unresponsive — the MENU button does not work and no display information is visible. After several seconds, the image returns and operation resumes. This issue occurs: • In Manual mode • With Autofocus OFF • With SteadyShot OFF • With lens attached and removed • Using an official Sony battery • After performing a full factory reset Because both displays go completely black and the camera temporarily locks up, this appears to be an internal hardware or processor issue rather than a settings problem. I’m returning the unit and buying a new one directly from Sony. The camera itself is great but would recommend thoroughly testing a renewed camera immediately upon arrival to ensure proper functionality. I will say the return process was very easy so it may be worth trying to save a few hundred bucks. ... show more

    • Didn't work at all
When it arrived it wouldn't work at all. I would plug it in with usb-c with the battery in per the instructions, but after charging for a full day it wouldn't turn on and just said "battery exhausted." Working with the Amazon Renewed store was not helpful--they agreed to give me a refund but expected me to pay the shipping because it was a 3P seller. I would have been better off buying the new item but was trying to save a buck. ... show more
