I bought a 55” Sony Bravia LCD flatscreen TV back in 2005 when they weighed 2 tons and cost around $3K. I still have it and it runs beautifully. Matter of fact, I had to put my new 2024 60” Samsung TV away because that TV couldn’t live up to the quality of the Bravia’s picture. With that being said, the Bravia is quite literally the best TV I have ever owned. I bought 2 of these bad boys for the living room and I absolutely love them. The screen and picture are absolutely beautiful. The color too. The tv is worth the price. It did not come with the usual protection around it in box and had an issue with the live tv not working. Got it fixed with Sony. I love the picture

    • A great TV BUT ….

This is a really nice TV with a great picture, It does have pretty aggressive dimming when watching cable news channels that have a static 3rd half ticker/logo that cannot be defeated. To minimize this effect, set peak luminance at medium. High will actually make things worse although you may see a slightly brighter picture momentarily. The Google TV interface is snappy and surprisingly the tv sound is good. Now for the BUT … this issue also effects Bravia 7 and 9. If you are using this Tv with an AVR where you have your video sources connected to the receiver, you will never get correct A/V sync. Sony if you are reading this - fix it. It’s the TVs issue, as switching to TV speakers has correct sync. The only way to fix the sync issue when using a AVR is to plug all your video sources directly into the TV and output the sound via eARC/ARC back to your receiver. Not ideal. ... show more

    • TV with a lot of issues that are hard to overcome. Not worth the price.

Probably the worst TV we have had. We went from having a Phillips flat screen for 15 years that worked flawlessly. We got rid of it strictly because newer tvs had better features and also paired easier with other devices. This Sony randomly just restarts in the middle of tv shows. Frequently! No reason at all. It just powers down and back up again. Weirdest thing ever. One night it powered up at 3am when I was in bed and had been for hours. House was completely dark and silent. The TV just turned on. It was terrifying. (no kids or pets in the house that could have done it) The biggest complaint is that the sound is constantly off sync where you can see that the sound doesn't' match the lips. It's very distracting and hard to even focus on what you're watching. Tried customer service a couple of times and they removed over did a few tweaks, but nothing really stuck. We tried adding a sound bar to see if it would fix it, but that didn't help. It's unfortunate because the picture is nice. ... show more

If you purchase this (K-65XR80) Bravia 8 tv... YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY MISTAKES!!! We're still using the earlier models of Sony LED and LCD Bravia sets in our house and one of the 65" LCD sets lost it's backlighting. This is our first OLED set and we never knew what we had been missing all this time! The difference in details and colors, it's like comparing a digital signal to analog signal ALL OVER AGAIN!!! All our sets are on the walls, If you're a wall hanger like us, just know this 65" only weighs 42lbs, wife and I hung it and we're both 66yrs old, the old 65"LCD we replaced was much heavier and not so easy to get down off the wall. Some reviews said that this set is hard to get set up in settings, gets extremely hot, powers off...blah, blah.... we breezed through settings very easily and after that we watched 3 movies back to back and yes it got a little warm, but that's to be expected with OLED technology... same as your phone when you've been using it for a long time. We do not have any complaints about this set and the only difficulty is going to another room to watch one of the other Bravia LED or LCD sets, they are not so great anymore. We will only be buying OLED from now on! ... show more

Do you really need me to write anything about this ? Heck, you will have read all the reviews of this TV and know all about it. So, to the things you probably want to know: did it arrive quickly, intact, etc. Yes, this arrived really quickly. A couple of beefy guys in their big truck showed up on time and were very courteous. Carried it gently into my garage and left it just where I wanted it. They offered to unpack it, but I wasn't ready for that. It was in perfect condition. I unpacked it myself (instructions are actually printed on the package, just follow them). I mounted it on the wall using the same wall mount I already had there from the old TV. Worked out great. Packaging was cut down easily to get into a combination of garbage for the polystyrene, and recycle for the cardboard (but the dog decided she liked laying on the cardboard, must have been comfy, it was thick enough. So that stuck around for a while.) ... show more

I'm super happy with the TV. Easy setup and nice picture. They missed the original delivery date, but I wasn't in a rush. The delivery guys were professional and compentent. I would order another large tv thru Amazon again.
