  • GoPro Killer
Style: Camera only
This is an incredible little action camera that is sure to challenge the GoPro. It's built very well, has great resolution, it works well in low light, it has a ton of built in features like more high end Sony cameras, and it worked alone or with my iPhone very easily. Lots of customization for professionals. This is a pricey little camera but it's worth the money and it's replacing my GoPro 5. I'm not even bothering with the GoPro 6. The only thing I'd change is adding a dedicated button for sill images so effortless switching between still and video is easier. ... show more

  • What the heck is going on
Style: Camera only
I read reviews and one of them said this camera can replace cell phone camera being used as a pocket camera, and that is exactly what I need and get the bonus of videos too.. Well this thing sucks, or maybe its me i dont know, but there will be no using this without first reading the manual, so I did, then I took a picture, I often take document pictures of equipment model and serial plates but the image quality of this thing is 3 decades old quality see for yourself.. After I got a couple of pictures all looking the same the camera gets a screen that says "unable to read sd card, please reinsert" and I reinsert card over and over and over and nothing changes, the camera just stopped working, no its not the card, everything thing else reads the same sd card no problem, in fact the picture uploaded for this review is uploaded from the same sdcard that the camera says it can no longer read, so a half hour later, I give up, returning this thing i just dont get it, maybe i need a camera/video college degree or something ... show more

  • Amazing PHOTOGRAPHY camera
Style: Camera only
Amazing PHOTOGRAPHY camera, it is perfect for traveling or taking casual shots without too much fussing around. Just set it to Superior Auto and it will give great results! Better yet, set it on Program Auto and keep the ISO below 6400. Much more handy to take out of pocket and start shooting than a cellphone. The waterproofing and shockproofing are big pluses. Good for HD video if you can set it on a steady surface. ... show more

  • A New Class of Camera
Style: Camera only
I am still learning the ins-and-outs of the Sony RX0, but I wanted to give some early impressions. I still need to spend (much) more time on the high-speed capabilities, which if reported accurately, makes this a whole new type of camera. My first impression.... Wow! This camera is not a "GoPro Replacement" for the adrenaline and sporting junkies. The camera simply was not intended to be used in that type of setting. The Sony RX0 is a more professional camera - not a camera that is simply mounted in hopes that it captures something cool. No, this Sony is to be used in a reasonably controlled setting by someone who has an idea of the actual shot that they want to be captured. Meaning, it will be mounted in a specific place or it will be used with some sort of gimbal. When used correctly - the Sony RX0 is something very unique. I am not sure the percentage, but a number of GoPro users rarely need the full "action" capability of their camera. They simply want something that is small and captures reasonably good video/pictures. For this purpose, the Sony is far superior to any GoPro. The 1" sensor is sharper, with greater DOF control, and has better color representation than the GoPro. A few notes - The menus on the Sony are confusing and not especially easy to navigate - I am impressed with the sharpness of Zeiss lens. While I (and everyone else) would prefer something faster than an f4 it really does do a good job - battery life is just so-so..... also not especially easy to charge and/or find replacement batteries - Would really prefer that it had more time-lapse settings. - It *sorta* works with my Evo Gimbal. Adding the gimbal really, really elevates the Sony RX0 performance. One of the drawbacks is that due to the lack of image stabilization the camera really needs to be fix mounted or used with some sort of tripod. - High speed performance.... I will update this..... the ability to shoot 1000fps in HD is unheard of outside of mega-expensive high speed cameras. This feature alone would make the camera a value at nearly any price. - Size.... this thing really is small. It is larger than the GoPro Session, but certainly smaller than the heros - Screen - not bad, but not overly bright - microphone - surprisingly good and clear Final verdict... depending on your need this camera will score between "useless" and "revolutionary". As of now, I am dropping a star because it is cumbersome to use. However, if the high-speed performance is as good as advertised I will add it back and make it a 5 star review. ... show more

  • Do some research to see if it's going to be right for you.
Style: Camera only
So far, this camera is the best I've owned. It has all of the features you could ever want and you can take super slow motion shots too! You can adjust the frame rate up to 1000 fps, which is awesome. As for normal camera features, what doesn't it have? It has it all. I have been using it for a dash cam recently it's so small. As a matter of fact, it might be TOO small. Before I go into the bad, I'll finish the good. It comes with an extra battery and charger. It has a normal screw type mount for a tripod. It does NOT have a fish-eye lens. Now the bad. It looks like, and is smaller than, a certain camera many people use for recording first person, but this camera isn't really set up for that. If you are trying to record a movie, there are only a few different options you have for time. The longest time is 30 minutes and after that is shuts off. The power button is one the top and is very touchy. Many times I have brushed a finger across it and it will shut down. It's SMALL. It does not come with a carry case or protective case of any kind so the buttons are sometimes difficult to manipulate. If you want a protective case it's $$$! This camera is waterproof and shockproof itself, but it's also ultra small. That is a good and a bad. Anyway, look it up and read on it. It is a very nice camera, but the size makes it cumbersome to handle. . ... show more

  • Perfect to match other Sony Cameras
Style: Camera only
The small form factor of this is amazing as I like to keep my gear to a minimal. I will be using this camera in unique angles that my other sony cameras can't reach. Another use of it will be as a backup camera of a safe wide of the bride coming down the aisle, as I do wedding videography.
