  • Amazing espresso coffee maker
This machine is absolutely amazing! I finally found the right one, my husband was sick of me buying a new ones and returning them right away because they were not espresso machines. But I finally found this amazing one which not only does a proper espresso but the greatest cappuccino.

  • The new favorite thing in my house
I'll be honest, I ordered this several months ago but was too intimidated to use it. I read the direction manual front to back more than once and still thought it sounded to confusing to use. Well I finally decided with the weather cooling down that I was going to learn this thing and use it, and so I set it up, bought espresso coffee beans (the coffee shop will grind the beans for you if you ask) and vanilla flavoring from my favorite green coffee shop and got their recipe for my favorite drink- vanilla latte and got ready to do it...I mean brew it. However I soon found out that with all my reading of the manual I now couldn't find it. Searched online and no manual. Well I decided to try an app on my TV that has videos of how to use ANYTHING, and yup- there was a few videos of unboxing and using this exact espresso machine. So I watched several videos and was ready to try it. I followed their instructions step by step and ended up with the most PERFECT tasting Vanilla Latte that I've ever had! This machine is SO easy to use that I feel silly that I was so intimidated by it. There are only 5 buttons, so the control panel is very basic and you just press the button for what you want to do.. Power, on/off, 1 shot or 2 shots, steam your milk, or set to manual instead of auto timing. Fill the back container with water and add the espresso powder to the container and lock the container in. Push the button and the brewed espresso drips and pours into your cup. The steam/froth your milk, add the 2 together with the vanilla or whatever flavoring if you want it and that's it. It literally took me less than 10 minutes to make the perfect cup. I think this is the ideal espresso machine for a beginner like be. It comes with every tool you need, and its so basic, it would be hard to mess it up. This is a great machine and I cant give it enough stars! ... show more

  • They weren't kidding about cafe-quality!
For me, a cup of perfect espresso requires several essential components: a) How well the machine can bring out the unique aromatic flavor and encapsulate it in the emulsion of the small oil droplets from a particular kind of coffee bean; b) How well the machine preserves the unique flavor of the chemicals in the beans, and allowing the very fine particles passing through the finest mesh to deliver a somewhat viscous feel in the mouth; c) A layer of fine foam or crème floating on the top of the coffee resulting from the air-coffee emulsion bubbles A good espresso maker achieves this by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water ~30 ml under 130–150 psi of pressure through finely-ground coffee beans. It requires the ideal combination of correct water temperature, right filter mesh size, and optimal pressure that pushes the steamy water through the finely ground coffee beans. Making such a machine is no easy feat. As an espresso/cappuccino lover, I have owned quite a few espresso machines. I have come to a conclusion: A household espresso machine capable of making commercial grade espresso would cost at least $1000, if not more. Learning from mistakes, I hesitate to consider those relatively inexpensive models. But the Sonic Power, model PS2009 surprised me big time! I was totally impressed after tasting the first cup of espresso it made. The three dispersed phases in the espresso it made are exactly how I wanted it, the emulsion of oil droplets, followed by a suspension of solid particles with rich and concentrated unique aroma, and a layer of creamy foam on the top that can only be extracted from the coffee oil by the pressurized hot water. The dispersion of very small oil droplets is perceived in the mouth as creamy. The suspension of the super fine organic solids in the coffee delivers a special sensation when sipped into the mouth, enhancing the strong flavor of the espresso. Apparently the Sonic Power engineers have done a superb job to deliver this machine. I used the same coffee beans to conduct a side by side comparison with one of my expensive machines and the Sonic Power. Frankly, I couldn’t tell the difference between the espressos made by the 2 machines. A blind test further done by another family member couldn’t differentiate the two either. I could not help but wondering if I had wasted money on the more expensive machine. I did come up with a reason to justify the huge premium I had paid for the fancy machine, in order to make myself feel better: “well, it’s fully automated!” But as I played with the Sonic Power machine more and more, I have to admit that I actually enjoyed manually operating the machine when preparing the espresso. I also like the machine’s milk frother which makes rich milk foam without much practice, and is pretty easy to operate. The stylish design of the machine and its compact size make it a decent addition to the kitchen counter. All in all, I like the design and engineering of this small espresso machine that makes close to impeccable espresso coffee for my tastes. It’s a buy. ... show more

  • easy to set up and use
This espresso machine was easy to set up and use since I was familiar with how to use an espresso machine. The steam wand was a little short but that's my only complaint with this machine. It was easy to clean up and the Porta filter was easy to attach and remove. The cup holder on top actually got warm enough to heat up espresso cups ... show more

  • Professional looking on my countertop.
This machine works fine. This machine heats up fast so after turning the power on you don’t have to wait too long to make the espresso. The grounds are left damp/dry after the process of extraction instead of soupy and wet like another machine I tried out. It is easy to operate. I like that the filter holder doesn’t require superhuman strength to twist into place. I also like the choice of making one or two cups at a time. One thing I don’t particularly like is the frother. It spews out two to three tablespoons full of boiling hot water before the steam begins. I had to use a separate cup to remove that water to keep my milk from being diluted by it (though to be fair, that's what the directions said to do). Then when I submerged the frother wand into the milk and turned steam back on I couldn’t be certain that only steam was being released. It was certainly hot enough and steamed up the milk very quickly though. ... show more
