Changing the blinds from a cord to remote was easier than I expected. The battery charge doesn't last as long as I would expect, but climbing on the cabinet a time or 2 a week to charge the battery is nothing compared to climbing up once or twice a day to open and close the blinds. ... show more

I currently have 4 steel roller blinds on the outside of my home that are operated seamlessly with the Somfy MyLink remote and integrated into Alexa, so I already have the Somfy MyLink wifi adapter. I wanted this inside blind adapter to compliment that and add my inside blinds to complete the whole house. Not only was this fairly easy to install (about 20 minutes) but adding it to my Somfy app was a breeze. Now, in the morning, I say "Alexa, Good Morning" and my roller blinds all roll up to my preset position and the inside blinds open perfectly to let in the light. At sunset, Alexa automatically closes all the outside and inside blinds, set my lights to a soft blue, turn on my TV in the gaming room and get me ready for an evening of fun gaming. If you are tired of running around your home adjusting the blinds depending on the time of day, let in light or shut it out, or just set the perfect setting to keep your home temperature right due to excess sunlight, this is the perfect solution. Now for the only issue: The instructions are crappy in the box. And you don't get One box. It's like everything is sold separately, then bagged up and sent to you. Absolutely horrible. The controller itself is nicely presented, but then you get the remote, battery, and charger all thrown in like "Oh, and you might need these too." Do better Somfy. Fortunately, the online videos are a blessing and walk you step by step through the installation. Do not count on what's in the box to help you in any way. They're mostly disclaimers with no real instructions. Oh, and one final note. The Somfy app integration with Alexa is kind of crap. Yes, it works nicely when setting a specific group of actions. A "Scene". But let's say you want to open one blind. You have to say, "Alexa, ask Somfy to turn on the Living Room blind." Seriously? Turn it On? Not open? And there is no way to set a blind to the "My" position without using a scene preset in the Somfy app. I mean, it works, yes. But very cumbersome and not intuitive at all. Hopefully they'll take this opportunity for this new additional product to update the app so it's more accessible and easier to use. ... show more

Would be 5 stars if it came with the advertised remote. Product description says it comes with a situo 5 remote (MRP $105 and controls 5 channels). It actually comes with a situo 1 remote (MRP $80 and controls only 1 channel). Otherwise good product. Easy to install, works well and actually DOES work with cordless blinds--just have to make sure you have >5" available space inside the rail for the motor. Updated review: informed the seller that the wrong remote was sent. I offered to keep the wrong one but asked for the price difference to be credited to my account. They reimbursed me within hours. ... show more

Very easy to install. Didn't noticed I needed a hub to work with alexas, so had to order it separately. I think the hub should be included. The written instructions needs work. Had to scrabble to find data for remote and battery life. The price is high. I will see in a few years if it was worth it.

This retrofit kit makes it easy to upgrade standard manually controlled blinds with a compact motor unit that works well and is easy to install. I got this because of some blinds that are on the other side of the bathtub and got tired of having to step into the tub if I wanted to change the tilt on the blinds. Now I can just push a button and get the extra privacy I want in my bathroom. If you have blinds that are hard to reach I definitely recommend this upgrade. I'm planning to add more of them to my home and get the wi-fi hub so that I can integrate them with the rest of my SmartHome setup. ... show more

We have 4 blinds that were opened every morning, and closed every night so people couldn't see in. Once we added these motors in, they all open and close automatically and in sync. Pretty cool. After installing the 1st one, the other 3 went in super quickly. Programming was tricky when grouping because the instructions said to hold the button, but all it needed was a quick tap. Once we discovered that grouping was a breeze. Will buy more for other rooms ... show more

    • Somfy Clever DIY Blind Motorization Kit: Home Office - Pretty Easy To Install + Upgraded WFH Space!

The media could not be loaded. I purchased the Somfy Clever DIY Blind Motorization Kit and installed it this weekend. I couldn't be happier with the finished upgrade to my home office. One frustration of working from home is that throughout the day my office takes on either too much or too little light. The Somfy Clever DIY Blind Motorization Kit gave me the opportunity to solve my lighting issue while also modernizing the space. Pros: This kit is a fantastic upgrade for dressing up any run of the mill manually adjustable horizontal blind system - perfect for skylights or any out of reach window (those are next on my list.) The first install took about an hour and fifteen minutes. It went so smoothly that as time and budget permit Iโ€™ll likely install these throughout my entire home. Concerns: No real drawbacks. My only note would be that you should understand or become familiar how your window covering bracket fits into the wall and how the rod system functions. Once this is accomplished, then the install is pretty easy. Check to make sure that your pre-existing window blinds match the product requirements. If you have any other type of window covering, this product will not work for you. Final Assessment: The finished product is exactly what I was hoping for, and so Iโ€™ve ordered a second Clever DIY Blind Motorization Kit, arriving this week. Now that I understand my window coveringโ€™s mechanics and know how the install works, I suspect the install time will be no more than 30-45 minutes. ... show more
