I’ve had great success with germination. It works great on a tabletop. The heat and humidity provided gives the plants a great boost. The grow light is held by an easy-to-assemble PVC rack, and the heat pad is a perfect fit under the plant tray. It is worth the cost and is exactly as expected.

I always dread the winter months because I am prevented from working outside in my garden by the winter snow and frigid temperatures. This small and efficient kit was easy to set up, lightweight, and a great start for my veggies. I have it set up in my basement and the little tomato and pepper plants I started are growing very nicely. They sprouted quickly and they are quickly becoming strong and healthy. I will also be able to graduate them and start more plants for my garden before the snow melts, so I will have saved much more than I spent by not having to buy plants from elsewhere for the season.     • Great Value, Surprisingly High Quality Items
This system has been great! The 6 individual 3x4 cell trays are really convenient for moving them around, organizing how many to plant, and moving them in order to bottom water. Everything appears to be really great quality. Very durable, and it was easy to put together. The timer function on the light is also incredible! The only issue I have, and it is very minor, are that you can't use the humidity dome and the light at the same time. The light needs to be really close to the sprouts while they are small and the humidity dome is massive, so it doesn't work. All in all, I think this is an excellent value! I already bought 2 and I'll get 1 more! ... show more

This kit seemed a little pricey. After putting it together it is well worth the money. I bought another one and have my entire garden starting with heat and lighting. No more expensive garden center starts.

I bought this set-up when I was new to the idea of seed-starting and didn't want to invest heavily in the experiment. It was the most affordable option and came with everything recommended - grow light, heat mat, humidity dome, etc. Here's what I didn't realize: In order to have an effective set-up, the grow lights need to span the seeding area. For a set-up this size, three lights would be required. When you have one light in the center, the outer cells won't germinate as quickly as the ones along the center. Also, even with the chain included, the light is too far from the surface of the cells, so you get leggy seedlings. To avoid this, you need the light barely above the surface of the cells, slowing raising it as the seedlings grow. The PVC structure that the light hangs from is fragile. The components don't fit together very well and come apart easily -- not great when you have fragile seedlings below. The heat mat is great. No complaints. But I wish I would have saved up for a sturdier set up with more lights and a solid structure for the lights to hang from. ... show more

Works great. Seeds started within about a week. Choice of soil makes a difference. Light stands could be higher but it little ingenuity and I got them to the right height for the seedlings.
