I have a base model 2015 NIssan Altima and it doesn't have a back up camera. I have driven other vehicles that had this and it always helped me. I have depth perception issues and I don't back into parking spaces and sometime I have to adjust my parking even when I am pulling forward. I have a hard time judging whether I am in fully inside my garage and have had my garage door hit the back of my car a couple of times cause I didn't pull in fully. I didn't want to pay thousands of dollars to have my console upgraded and a backup camera installed and so I went searching for a wireless option. The only problem is that even though most of them are wireless they still require you to wire into your reverse light in order to work and this was out of my skill level. I wanted something I could install easily and didn't require any wires. I stumbled upon the solar options and after many reading many reviews, I finally decided on this option. The shipping was fast and when I got home from work on the day that I received it, I started to install the unit. Now, for people who know exactly what they are doing, this is probably a 10 minute install but I went in with several assumptions and that delayed the install. First, I thought I was going to be able to install the camera onto the license plate at the top; however, my license plate is located in a recessed area of the truck and is already situated close to the top where the trunk release button and so if I placed the camera there, I would never be able to open my trunk. (I attached a photo that where I circled the truck release so you can see how close it is to the top of the license plate). Second, my car didn't come with holes for the bottom of the license plate so I was unable to have it secured to the bottom part of my license plate as well. I was thinking I would have to send this back but then I remembered the sticking strip that was sent with the camera. This was actually a better option for me since it allowed me to affix the camera to the right of center which actually put the camera part itself almost dead center of the car. I attached a couple of photos to show the camera on the bottom and how the actual camera part is almost center. I removed the license plate completely, cleaned the entire area and dried it completely. Determined the placement of the sticker and then applied it. I then placed the camera still attached to the bracket onto the sticker and held it in place for a few minutes. I then cleaned off the license plate itself and replaced it. I then moved onto figuring out the placement for the monitor. I have a non textured area directly above my console that I initially tried to place the monitor; however, that area is slanted and the monitor wouldn't stick. It kept falling off! The instructions state to place it on a non-textured flat surface. The rest of my dashboard is textured but I have more options of a flat surface. Placing it on the windshield is not an option for me because then I wouldn't be able to use my sunshades in the summer time. So I found a place that was in line with the driver's view and it was a little farther back where it was flat and although it was a textured surface - it stuck! And I mean it stuck solid! After I placed it on the flat area, I had decided I was going to adjust the position just a little but it was so solid that I decided to leave it alone. After watching several YouTube videos, I was able to figure out how to pull the trim off my dashboard which allowed me to hide the extra cable behind my radio and a small hole was just above the area where my cigarette lighter. You can see from the photos I attached that only a small portion of the cable from the monitor is visible where the monitor is at and down where the product plugs into the cigarette lighter. So I put several objects behind my car at different distances and with the help of my son, it allowed me to adjust the camera to the proper level. I have been driving for over a week with this product installed and I just LOVE it!. I no longer have anxiety pulling out of a parking spot and hoping there is enough distance between me and the cars parked on the other side. I backed into my garage for the first time and it was a breeze. When I pull forward into my garage, I no longer have to get out of the car to see if I have pulled in enough to clear the door, I just hit the monitor and line up the grid line to the line on the cement that separates the garage from the driveway and viola, I am in with no problems. The grid lines are slightly off on one side because the camera isn't dead center. (I wish now I would have installed it more center than I did but the sticky stuff they sent works really well and I'm not getting it off to readjust the camera). After driving with this product and the installation issues that I ran into, I have a couple of suggestions for those of you who are like me. Before the product arrives, visually look at where your license is at and determine how much space you have between the top of your plate and the trunk release and also if you have holes in the bottom to mount there if needed. This product is bulky. Also look for flat area on your dash board to mount, flat is more important than smooth texture. IF I had done this before hand, I would have saved a ton of time when I went to install it. My next suggestion is based on my need for accuracy of the grid lines. I would highly suggest to avoid mounting the camera onto the license plate with the screws because that puts the camera itself on the side and thus the grid lines will not be accurate. If you are after a cleaner look or don't rely on the grid lines to park/maneuver then this suggestion will not apply to you; however, if you don't mind the look of the product being off center or need accuracy for the grids, then use the sticking tape that comes with the product and mount it where the camera will be dead center. As I said before, I wish I had mounted it a little farther over than I what I did so that the camera would have been center but that ship has sailed cause its stuck so well that I can't move it! Also, my cigarette lighter area is down in a recessed area of the console and I found that I had to lean forward quite a bit in order to hit the button to activate the monitor. So I went ahead and purchased a splitter that brought the power button up out of the recessed area. It not only made it easier for me to reach the power button of the monitor but it also gave me another cigarette lighter port for other devices that require that. You can actually see that splitter in the photo where I am showing the wire under the console. I would suggest getting a splitter if your cigarette lighter area is a little out of your reach. I thought it was great, easy to install, wireless, decent battery. You have to manually turn on the monitor each time you want to reverse, the camera does not stay on the whole time you have to keep clicking a button for it to stay on. This camera works well. The Rear View Screen is a decent size and you can see clearly in the day time. Sometimes at night however, the headlights of cars are so bright you can’t use your rear view camera as it will be blinded. Be cautious with the camera in really cold weather. The battery for mine did not last long, and stopped working. However, the seller provided great customer service and responded quickly to my requests for a refund. Very kind, I suggest you try this camera. If it’s the case that it’s defective or damaged, the seller has been very understanding and has offered me either refund or send a replacement. Just be cautious when using it in cold weather and take extra care.

My husband was hesitant with a 'wireless ' backup system but I have to say this little camera system does a fantastic job. Easy installation, truly just plug and play. Install solar panel/camera to license plate. Plug monito power into cigarette lighter slot. Allow sun to charge camera, press the power/backup button on the monitor and you have a fantastic color view of what is behind you. The monitor's suction pad is heavy duty and has stickiness to it. Once placed it really needs muscle to move it, which is a positive so it does not fling off as you go around a corner. And the most glowing review came from my husband on this little but mighty system of safety for your vehicle without a factory installed systems

My initial thoughts on the new system - the item comes well packaged, instructions for operation are clear and simple. The camera is already programmed for the monitor. The car charger (see photo) comes with a USB outlet which is an added bonus to the system. Once I had things ready to go (battery fully charged on the camera) I turned the monitor on for the first time - OH MY!. It is crystal clear (see photo)! The monitor has the ability to change brightness and contrast. You can adjust the time the monitor stays on to up to 90 seconds. It has nearly a 180 degree view. The system states that it has the ability to use two cameras, which I do not have a need for so have not tried that. The camera itself comes with a much smaller mounting bracket which suits my purposes (and probably most others) perfectly. I ended up mounting it with screws to the bottom of my camper door (I can’t use it mounted to the license plate when I have my camper on as the tailgate is down). You can see in one of the photos how it is mounted to the door and how small it is. This still provides an excellent viewing range to the rear of my vehicle. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SURPRISED ME as I do not see this anywhere in the instructions. The camera can slide off the mounting bracket. I don’t believe it will slide off accidentally as it is mounted horizontally but you can remove it and use it for other purposes or just remove it so that it won’t be stolen. The system has the ability to add an additional camera which could then be used for that purpose (or anything else one can think of). I do not use the suction cup device to mount the monitor so can’t speak on that. In operating the system - because this is not attached to your vehicle’s backup lights it will not come on when you place your vehicle in reverse. It will come on when you initially start your vehicle or when you push the button on your monitor charger. I haven’t found this to be an issue. One of the things that I would like to see changed is how long the monitor stays on. I have found that 90 seconds at times is not long enough though all you have to do is push the button to turn it back on again for another 90 seconds. Most newer vehicles now come with backup cameras but anyone with a camper or towing a trailer and wants to see while backing will be very pleased using this system. All in all, I’m very impressed with this unit.

I ordered the Solar 3 Wireless backup camera to use in my 2001 Ford F250 Crew Cab. I wanted an easy to install unit that would accept a second camera because I would like to add a second camera on my 28’ travel trailer. Shipping was very quick through Amazon. I placed my order on Sunday and had the item by Tuesday. The camera kit arrived neatly packaged in a box that contained everything I needed to get up and running. The camera unit looks and feels well-made and sturdy. Although bigger than most backup cameras, the size is because it contains batteries and solar cells cleverly hidden under a plastic cover. The camera head Itself swivels up and down, allowing adjustability for the desired view. There is a USB socket located under a rubber cover one side to allow charging via a power adaptor. The instructions say the camera must be fully charged before the first use. When the camera unit is plugged in using the USB cable, you will notice a small red LED indicating the battery is charging. When the LED turns green, the battery is fully charged and ready for use. The camera mounting bracket is designed to easily attach to your license plate mounting hardware. The kit also includes an adhesive strip in the shape of the bracket that can be used as an alternative method to mount the camera someplace other than a license plate. I will be trying this option out on the back of my travel trailer. Once the bracket is installed, the camera can be removed from the bracket by sliding it sideways. This allows for removal to charge the camera with the USB cable if needed. The monitor looks to be good quality. Mounting is accomplished by simply attaching the monitor to the base and sticking the suction cup of the base to a smooth surface. The monitor is powered by a power plug that plugs into your vehicle’s power port (Old School - Cigarette Lighter). The power plug has a small switch on it to turn on the monitor and has a spare USB socket for powering or charging other items. Here is all there is to the installation. I unscrewed the hardware for the license plate on the rear of my truck and installed the bracket for the camera, it took about 10 minutes with cleaning. I pressed the power button on the side of the camera. I attached the monitor to the base and connected the power cord to the monitor. Again, about 10 minutes with cleaning and trying out several locations to mount the monitor with the base. I plugged in the power cord into the power port in my truck and pushed the button on the plug. The monitor turned on and the camera worked great right out of the box. I adjusted the camera’s swivel head for the view I needed and done. I will say, I am surprised at the quality of the image on the monitor. Very crisp and clear. So far, I have only used the system in the bright daylight. I will update this review after I get a chance to try out nighttime views. Also, the camera battery capacity is displayed on the monitor screen. Again, I will update this review once I get a feel on how the battery behaves under normal use. Playing around a bit, I found the monitor has several features accessible through a menu. Pairing, Contrast, Brightness, Image Mirroring and Flipping, Parking Lines On / Off, Reset, and more. To sum this all up, I found the signal strength for the wireless camera to be more than adequate. I did experience any noise in the image under normal use with my truck. I also moved the camera to the rear of my travel trailer and still received a quality image under normal use. I am very happy about that and look forward to ordering a second camera soon. This system is really a simple system. You do not have to connect power or backup signal wiring to the camera. If fact, no wiring to the camera unit at all. Simply charge it, mount it, and use it. The monitor is also very simple in its use, Again, no special wiring. Just plug it in and turn it on. This being said, the power plug has a button on it to activate the camera /monitor when needed and it will only stay on for the selected amount of time (30, 60, or 90 seconds) then it will turn off. The button will then need to be pressed again. There is no automatic operation when the vehicle is placed in reverse, and it will not work as an electronic rearview mirror. But, as a simple to install, simple to use backup camera system, this is a great setup. My total time to install this unit, less than a half hour. And the only tools needed was a screwdriver for the license plate screws. Awesome!!!

When I first purchased this item @ 3years ago, it worked fine. I added a second camera so that I can see both front and rear views in my older F350 pickup. This vehicle is nearly 25' long and very difficult to see front and rear bumper positions relative to surrounding obstacles. Install is simple enough where the cameras get mounted to license plate screws and monitor screen plugs in to 12v outlet on dash. However, due to the solar charging nature of these cameras, they are very susceptible to placement. Inevitably, no matter where you park the vehicle, the camera (or both in my case) will be in the shade at some point or other. this prevents the camera from fully recharging. Overtime the battery gets completely depleted and will no longer power the camera. After about a year or so of being on my truck, one of the cameras would no longer work at all and when I tried to recharge it with a USB plug it wouldn't take a charge. Unfortunately, this particular brand and model doesn't hold up to what I would consider "normal" use/operation. Maybe if it was recharged regularly via USB it would work better, but who wants to unscrew and reinstall 2 cameras on a regular basis?? That's not practical. The system is a good idea in theory, but lacks the long term functionality required of these devices. Additionally, the user interface is a bit quirky with having to scroll through menu to switch camera views and other functions which is no always easy when needed quickly. I'd recommend looking for a better charging solution than this system provides.
