I'm very pleased with the quality and operation of these lights. Out of the box, the lights feel substantial. They're heavier than expected and the craftmanship is nice. They come with screws and anchors for each light. The screws are fairly thin, but they're long and support the weight of the light just fine. There's an instruction paper that is fairly easy to understand, but the lights could easily be figured out with instructions. In operations, I'm also pleased. The motion sensing function picks me up maybe 12 feet away mounted up about 7 1/2 feet. So far I haven't see our cat set it off. The lighted area is fairly compact at maybe 8 feet at the brightest and diminishes quickly farther out. The timed function lasts for about 35 seconds, but if you're moving it generally stays on. It's pretty bright. You could read by it. I haven't had it up long enough to test the battery life, but at 2200mAh it should power the LEDs for quite a while. If you want to turn the light on manually, make sure you can reach it when mounting. Mine's a little high for that. I think the construction will provide a fairly long lifespan. For the price, I think the value is OK. It's a good set of lights. ... show more

I got these in an attempt to replace the "scare lights" on my 5th wheel RV. I quickly found out that they come on by themselves and there is no remote to shut them off or turn them on when needed. I did use them on the side of the garage so I could keep an eye on things at night. I found them easy to install and of high quality. They are very bright and go on at the least motion.     • Excellent solution for dark garage side door entry motion-sensing lighting
I have a side door on my garage that is very, very dark at night, and I used to be in danger of stumbling or tripping on the steps when trying to enter the garage after dark. Wiring a new overhead light would be a lot more than I wanted to do, so this motion-activated light turned out to be the perfect solution. It's not the most stylish design, but for the application it's perfect, and the solar panels gather plenty of electricity during the day to support intermittent motion-sensing light safety. I also love the value! Less than $40 for two of them (even though I don't need the second one, I'm keeping it for backup) and it's hefty and reasonably water resistant. The light temperature is super high (6500K) so it's not so good for mood lighting (I prefer something closer to 2700K) but it's no-nonsense "Hey! You want light? We got your light right here!" and gets the job done. And so far it's working without a hitch, cross my fingers. ... show more

    • Competent illumination for small areas
There are lots of superficially similar units on the market, these are on the pricier side among them, but depending on your intended use they may well be worth it. Many of the cheaper units only illuminate a small half-circle directly under where they are mounted, and are therefore good for telling the neighbors you have a pretty fence or finding the front doorknob, but are pretty worthless for illuminating, say, your dog's turn-out area. Depending on mounting height, with this you get 6-8 feet of pretty well-lit, with diminishing amounts of light further out. In my use case (dog area) this allows me to see where the dog is, not necessarily whether he's sniffing grass or eating something he found in the grass. All light is better than no light - so these are a win, on balance. When you set it for a turn-on-when-motion-detected mode, you get about 40 seconds of light before it reverts to off or dim, and if you keep moving in front of it, it keeps going until it no longer detects you, then starts the countdown.
