These provide nice limited lighting if you don't care about looks. I live in a rural area where it's not well lit and my driveway is on a hill so I placed them along the driveway. The plastic stake segment of the stem does not lock into the steel segment and easily comes apart. I resolved this by punching 2 small measured notches into the steel sleeve, one on each side, with the plastic stake inserted, right below where the top or crown of the stake would be and that prevented it from slipping out. ... show more

Get what you pay for I guess. I’ve had these for about eight months. They’re fairly cheaply made. I’ve even gone so far as to tilt them in the direction of sunlight, but they’re fairly weak and only last a few hours except for one the one in the picture has super powers because it turns on first and it’s still live in the morning, when light shuts off amazing and tou people need to figure out how this light has super powers! ... show more

Only barely made it through the summer. (3-4 months) I bought some less expensive ones at a local store and they are still going (10 months so far). I guess I will have to replace these with the cheaper ones.

I use these solar lights (after coating them with red translucent tail-light repair tape to light my pathways at night to guide guests to my telescope area. These are larger than another more expensive brand that I have, and the lights are brighter. I've only charged them up for the first time, they lasted over 6 hours when the other brand had faded out. I didn't time them until they ran out as 6 hours is longer than any starparty that I have. I found that the plastic spikes that insert into the steel tubes were so loose that they would fall out so I used a dab of hot glue and stuck them together. Now, they stay in one piece. If you don't glue them, I wouldn't push the plastic spikes below the ground level as you might not get them out of the holes. The best way to position them in your yard is to take a large spike nail or a large screwdriver and make holes where you want them to be placed. then gently push them into the holes. I do say gently as they are not a high quality construction and could break. They are supposed to be waterproof but I remove them after my stargazing so than when recharging them, they can be placed at an angle to catch the full sunlight. They will not charge up completely is placed in a shady spot or under a tree or bush. All in all, I'm happy with how they perform so far. another nice thing is that if you take them apart, they have a replaceable 1..2V Nimh 600 Mah AAA sized battery which can be easily purchased. I would think that as long as you keep them charged up, they should last a year or more before needing to be replaced. ... show more

Bought these when they were on sale for $19.99, compared to regular price of $29.99... has 12 but I installed 6 for my side path leading to my backyard gate. Will use the other 6 for the front steps leading up to my front door perhaps. Before I installed the stakes into the desert landscaping, I soaked each area where each stake would be with water and then hammered a Philips screwdriver far enough down for the stake. Not very bright but bright enough. There is a power switch underneath the top cap but just leave it powered on as it charges anyways during the day. Note, make sure to install in an area that get a good amount of direct sunlight. ... show more

I love it! Serves its purpose. I just wanted some details for my pathway. It is really cute but it is not meant to light up your pathway. I wasn't using it for that, only to add some details. I have had them otuside for two weeks now and they have held up!! Update: They do go very dim with time. I am sad about it. They aren't as bright as they were the first week. You get 16 lights for a very reasonable price, but they are not all the same brightness. Some of these are very bright while some are only glowing even when placed side by side. I got these to illuminate the entrance to my drivrway to make it easier to find at night and they are adequate for that but the majority of the lights are only glowing while some actually light the walkway. This is not a case of insuficient sun to charge the battery because they are 2 feet apart. Still a good value. ... show more
