I was impressed (and a little surprised) when I took this set out of the box and felt the weight of the frame and mesh screens, very solid, no flimsy metal or cheap plastic here. I tried it out today and it works great! I'm very happy with the quality of the pieces. Made of stainless steel, fabricated well with no sharp edges, and all three screens fit the frame as they should. It has a very smooth, polished finish that rinses off easily. The frame is thick and sturdy and so are the screens, there was no bending or buckling even when filling with a mix of sand (heavy!) and debris. I'll be able to screen my compost, worm castings, and also use it when it's seed saving time. My wish list would include fitting a 5 gallon bucket; this frame is a bit smaller, so I had to find a container to set it over. Of course, you can get larger ones that fit standard buckets, but they are twice the price, so it depends on your use and what it's worth to you. This set is a great value, you get three mesh screen sizes and solid construction for around $25 at the time of writing. I've been telling myself for ages that I'd make some simple wood frames, and staple mesh onto them for compost sifting. Not only have I not done that, but those frames would not last as long as these well made pieces surely will. And these wash up easily and stack neatly, too. I had originally purchased a garden sieve set – 3 frames ranging roughly from 6” to 10” w/ different sized screens in each – which was fine, until I realized I wanted the larger ring size with the smaller screen for the volume of sifting I was doing. My husband & I started looking at alternates and the #1 complaint was replaceable screens kept popping out. The design of this sifter is the perfect answer. Enough can’t be said about the great flexibility of 1, 3 or 5 mm, interchangeable, sifting screens all made of durable stainless steel AND they stay in place! The frame is a comfortable 8” in diameter and approx. 2 “deep, which allows for a healthy quantity of material for sifting. Most importantly, the screens are easily and securely clamped into the bottom of the sieve thanks to the 4 indentations inside, ensuring that the screen does not move during the sifting process. It’s also a breeze to snap the screens out when done, because the screens are made of durable, thickened mesh. In our case, we use the set for a myriad of sifting jobs: from separating harvested seeds and sifting soil in the garden to cleaning and maintaining the chicken’s coop. Definitely good for gardening in containers. I like it for sprouting sunflower sprouts. Sifting out the spent shells makes the potting soil perpetually reusable.

It's pretty simple but effective. Used it to sift some peat into different sizes. Only "problem" I could say is that the scoop is too small but that's not really why I requested it anyway. I just used my own scoop.

I just needed something smaller for my "inside" worm bin that has red wigglers. Just to make it easier to pick the worms out when going for their black gold castings. This is perfect. I like that you just pop the different size plates into the ring and use what you need. I'm sure it'll rust, it actually had some on it when it arrived, but it's not a deal breaker for me. This is exactly what I needed to make soil prep faster and easier for my seed starting mix. I had some diy screens but this is a much more refined and comfortable way to go. Different seeds have different needs, so it’s nice to have the three different mesh sizes in one convenient bowl/frame. The screens snap into place and hold tight while sifting. Dimensions are great, perfect for sifting roots out of used soil so I can recycle it. It’s really easy to switch between screens yet sturdy enough to shake aggressively. Only thing I noticed is a little rust spot upon receipt but it doesn’t hinder utility which is all I really care about.
