I usually wind the yarn by hand since I originally learned this technique at first when teaching myself to knit. I found this yarn winder very easy to use and it did the task with easy. The unit was easy to assemble and it fit well on the table surface I normally sit at when crocheting. The unit is pretty sturdy and even though it is made of mostly plastic with some metal I found it to be pretty durable. I was able to create very uniform balls of yarn from the many yarn projects I'd worked with in the past and now my yarn storage is neat and tidy. The winder is easy to use and quiet to operate. I wish I had it months ago but its better late than never. Love it!

I have been crocheting for almost 3 years now & this is my very first yarn spinner! It's a total game-changer & I can't believe I didn't order one sooner. I watched one video to help me make sure I was using it correctly but it's very user-friendly & easy to figure out. This helped condense my yarn to one big basket instead of two, they are stackable & much easier to organize. I used some cardboard in the center to give it more structure but I don't even think you need to do that honestly. I would definitely recommend this spinner!

I already have a larger yarn winder on hand that has been giving me problems with the yarn guide arm coming loose from it's wingnut during use, and I liked how the guide arm is mounted into a plastic base around the wingnut on this winder (instead of using a separate wingnut that tightens onto a coil of the arm) to solve the issue that's been giving me fits. This winder is much easier to use than my first one, and I really like it! This winder operates very smoothly and quietly, and it has wound up three cakes already without a single hiccup. This winder is a breeze to set up and remove from my desk, and the spindle attaches and removes quickly. The winder stays in place on my desk while whisking through a 400 yarn skein and doesn't budge a bit. This winder doesn't put marks on the wood of my desk, unlike my old one with metal fixtures that scratched up my old TV tray. This winder feels sturdy overall, and it winds yarn cakes up as easily as can be. I prefer this winder to my older one by far, and I'm quite happy with it! I've wanted a yarn winder for the longest time. When this one came across my screen, I knew I had to splurge and try it. No more constantly pulling at a skein to get it to unravel. The winder is super easy to attach to the table edge. The non-slip bottom helps ensure it is stable. The handle winds easily and turns smoothly. The winder leaves me with a well spun yarn 'cake'. I'm actually at the fun stage with this still and thinking of going to buy yarn, just so I can wind it! Why did I wait so long to get one?!?! This is a solid 10 out of 10. Easy to use and leaves me with a dream spun cake of yarn! Great value and will last for many years! If the littles discover this, I'm going to be in trouble, because they are going to love helping! All my knitting and crochet friends are going to get a Sogcase yarn winder if they don't already have one!

I did not even realize I needed this but as a new knitter, I would find my skeins getting tangled many times. Being able to make really nice "cakes" of yarn makes the frustrations of being a new knitter, much easier. I took one start off because it does seem a bit cheap and I am not sure how durable it is.
