    • Unfortunate Design Flaw and Parts Not Aligned Very Well

One of the Hydraulic systems is higher than the other, causing the leg on the right not to touch the floor unless you are lying on it. The two front feet are flimsy and are made of cheap wood. They don't even have a lock for the feet, so they slip out from under the bed. You have to put huge holes in the wall to anchor the bed so it does not come crashing down on you. My son was smashed on the top of his head. It takes forever to put together. If they could figure out how to make it stand without needing the huge anchor screws into the wall studs or plywood wall, and secure the feet with quality metal rather than cheap, thin wood pieces with a locking mechanism, and line up the drawers, this would be awesome. There is no way you'll want to take all the millions of parts apart to pack it back up and return it, so you are stuck with it. We placed sandbags at the base of it with a heavy box on top, and I will still install the giant screws, but directly into the wall studs, not into the plywood wall. This will likely mean that only three screws will be inserted into the wall, rather than the six provided. I may have to hire a professional, which will cost more money, and also purchase feet to put at the front of the bed. You can tell from the picture that the legs are cheap, but I was hoping there would be a steel rod or something inside the wood, and that there would be a locking mechanism, but there isn't any. Additionally, the drawers do not align very well. One draw is unusable, but it is in. Pulling it would rock the entire bed, and it would tilt forward. The drawers are very sturdy and of decent quality; however, the assembly for the entire bed is awful! With all this said, it looks good from a distance, but once you try to interact with it, it's sketchy, and I really wanted to love this bed. :( If it's possible to send a picture later, I'll do that. My son's sleeping on it now. The sandbags prevent you from closing the bed. I am planning to separate the bags so I can make the sandbags thinner and more of them, allowing the bed to close when not in use. UPDATE Once I had a professional carpenter ankor the Murphy bed frame to the wall, the flimsy legs are a lot more sturdy. He also tighten the legs somehow, which also helped. The one hydrolic is still off, but over all much better. It is still cooler looking as a side Murphy bed rather than the standard way. Probably would give 4 stars if I didn't need a carpenter. 5 stars if the hydrolic work and the drawers lined properly. ... show more

This was a little challenging to build as the quality is not as great as other brands. However, a friend was able to build the product just fine. The biggest surprise was that this MUST be secured to a wall. I had a professional come in to secure it. He needed to use extra bolts to make sure it was safe. It came to the house in three boxes and in his shape. The instructions and all supplies were there. My husband and i are very handy working with wood and putting things together like this. It's not our first rodeo! We know when they say it will take six hours to assemble what they really mean is double that. It took us 14 hours! The pieces were not all marked, a couple of the drawer rails were miss aligned and we had to adjust them. The drawers after assembly still don't work the best. The instructions didn't say anything about making sure the panels were in the correct position for the handles later. Even though we followed each photo to perfection. And when we realized it it was way too late to take it all apart. So we had to drill out own holes for the screws and handles on the front panel. The mattress that i bought (reg. Twin) had a gap on the end. Not sure if a twin xl would had fit better. No where in the description does it tell you what size of mattress to buy for the bed. (Reg. Twin or xl twin) I looked everywhere. It is sturdy for the must part. The wall anchors had to be pre drilled so not to snap off the screw inside the wall. I wouldn't but it again. I would spend the extra money to buy one in the store and have it delivered. ... show more
