Know that even if you have built all sorts of ikea furniture, furniture from Target, or even higher-end and complex furniture kits, this one takes the cake for most frustrating by far đł Also know that youâll definitely want a drill, as well as whatever tools you might need/want for anchoring this bed to a wall. (As other reviewers have mentioned, thereâs no getting around the anchoring part, in fact donât even *temporarily* skip that page thinking it should be fine to do it later. I needed my husbands help with finding wall studs and the right bit to pilot a hole for the giant screws, so until he got home I went ahead and finished the rest of the bed. DO NOT DO THAT. Big mistake. When the struts were first put on, they were initially violently strongâŚmy son and I barely opened the bed while thinking we were holding the top in place enough, and nope. It took us both out twice. My thumbnail got ripped back and my son ended up with some bruises. RESPECT THE ANCHOR-STEP in the instructions!) Regardless, we got it anchored and finished. But when our son lays more towards the wall-end of his mattress, the bed kind of lifts off the ground from the outer edge. đ¤Śâď¸ That really sketches him out for sleeping on it after the incident before we anchored it. Itâs been finished for several days and he wonât sleep on it yet. The led light strip that came with the bed can only be controlled by an app on a phone. Which was disappointing. My son doesnât have a phone. So I ended up getting him a Govee light strip to install instead. This bed will work and itâs decent. But if anyone reading this is debating Murphy bed price/quality-ranges and can afford more or will be using their Murphy bed often, I would absolutely suggest spending a little more on better quality. We have a queen sized Night and Day brand Murphy bed in our living room that has a 10-year warranty, it was maybe another $500 more than this one, BUT the quality between that one and this one are, wellâŚa *night and day* difference. Where the 10-year warranty makes sense, because they trust in the quality of their product to hold up that long.

As can be seen from the photo, the color is not consistent. There are so many screws. Make sure you have a power tool and knee pads. The wooden slats are also pretty spread apart inside. Buy some kind of sturdy board to assist with your mattress. Does support up to 8" mattresses. Overall it is pretty nice for an affordable Murphy bed.

What an absolute nightmare it was to put this together! It took me days and days to put this together, and it was ridiculously difficult compared to any other furniture I've ever put together. You go into this thinking it will be a big project, but you have no idea. Instructions are confusing, unclear, and sometimes incomprehensible due to broken English. I could make this review twice the length if I went page by page trying to clarify it all in a way that would lead to an actually successful assembly. What will end up where is unclear until it's too late to rotate it, making it very easy to accidentally install pieces upside down or backwards- which you then just have to live with, because deconstructing it would likely damage the pieces. There is a 'pretty' and a 'basic' side of each panel, so the aesthetic is ruined if you get it wrong on even one piece. The boxes are not organized in any useful way, and the pieces are so large and heavy that searching for them is very frustrating. They also just didn't pre-drill like half the holes. Nearly ONE HUNDRED screws they expect you to drill in by hand, without any guide, and no they do not make it easy. I had to drive each screw down with all my strength to get it started, it was ridiculous. And you have to do this ONE HUNDRED TIMES. You need power tools if you want to assemble this without crying from frustration and exhaustion, no easy way around it. The wood veneer is cheap and thin. Any little bump or scrape or scratch will damage it. Mine was already scuffed up before it was completed just from assembly. Put a blanket under this during assembly, even if you have soft floors, and treat each panel like it's made of paper. They only include five slats to go under the bed, for the entire length of it. For reference, having slats more than 3 inches apart leads to uneven support that causes back pain and damages the mattress. Lying on this, you can feel all five of those slats pressing into your back as the mattress oozes down into the foot wide holes between them. It is necessary to either purchase more slats or to use a board of some kind across the slats, or else you and your mattress will have a terrible time. The legs are wiggly even all tightened up, meaning they can 'miss' the metal bracket meant to stop them when you close the cabinet. This can pull the sides unevenly and possibly damage the cabinet. They can also not support the bed correctly in bed mode, if you don't double check they're down flat and not bowing out. Several key pieces of information are left out of the listing. They expect you to use a VERY thin, small mattress- though I haven't had any real problems yet exceeding this by putting in a normal 10 inch mattress. This cabinet also MUST be secured to a wall. That's not made clear when you're buying, and it's not just a suggestion either. The cabinet has all its weight in the front, meaning that if you don't have the back secured then either the entire thing will fall forward (in cabinet mode) or the back will fold up onto the bed (in bed mode.) There is no "just be careful" about this, the second you let go of it it will fall/fold until it's secured. If you don't have a way to secure this to a wall or other sturdy thing that will accept screws, you cannot use this. The back of the cabinet is also almost totally open, which is quite ugly, but I guess that matters less when you have to have it against a wall regardless. the instructions recommend having 4 people to assemble this, but you can do it with two. You cannot do it with any fewer than two people. There is a step near the end that's physically impossible to do alone, even if you're superman- A human being only has two hands and your arms can only reach so far. If you don't have any physically capable person who can come over and help you for at least a few minutes, you cannot assemble the bed. Once it's assembled, it's... fine. Ugly because some of the panels are on backwards, scraped up from an accidental bump during assembly, you have to double check the legs to ensure they're not bowing out and damaging anything... but it is technically a piece of functional furniture. You can sleep on it or fold it up to save space, this it does accomplish. It's technically functional, but for the amount of money these things cost there must be better options out there. There are a lot of other cabinets at this same price point that I wish I'd tried instead.
