This eyecup was a much-needed upgrade for me. The one that comes on the R6 is rather thin and really didn't shade sunlight. I felt that I would constantly touch the glass with my eye lashes and would smear. other issue would be that had to hold it up so close that my cheeks would touch that back screen adding smudges, sweat on hot days. This new eyecup is perfect and helps keeping my checks from touching the screen and completely blocks out any light. Very comfortable to pull up take photos, should have come from the factory this way. This well made and installed easily, however, in my case it moves my eye too far away and it blocks some of the symbiology and info unless you move your eye physically around. I put the OEM eyecup back on.

First of all, it’s a quality product and installation was easy and quick. Only concern was removing screws when removing the old eyepiece. One screw came out relatively easy, the other not so easy. I was actually concerned that I might distort the screw head. I ended up abandoning the provided screwdriver and using one of my own. Once installed, I really appreciate the sun blocking when it’s coming from the side. I now longer need to cup my hand around the viewfinder. Fortunately, the rubber is soft so my glasses aren’t a major issue. However, I find it easier to use if I remove my glasses. Keep in mind that if you’ve rolled the hood back, the underside restricts the LCD’s movement. If closed, it’s blocked from opening without a little fiddling. Bottom line, a good product thst I was really pleased to come across and purchase. Definitely recommended if you have the need for a hooded viewfinder. ... show more

This eyecup does exactly what I expected it to do, no regrets in buying it but the installation was epic. The removal of the original one was nerve wrecking. At some point I thought those screws had locktite and I was only able to remove them by pressing down on the supplied screwdriver and turning it with some pliers, horrible. One almost got stripped and I was ready to quit but it finally moved. Besides that terrible struggle, the eyecup is nice and blocks the light around perfectly. ... show more

If you have long eyelashes or shoot in very bright areas this product has made a difference in comfort and viewing. For the Canon R8. You unscrew the original eyepiece and screw in this new one.

Markedly better than the factory hood. This blocks sun from coming in without having to smash my eye socket to act as a barrier. It is the #1 complaint regarding the R cameras. Such a simple fix to an extremely poor factory design. I do recommend using a socket wrench on the end of the screwdriver provided so it can do "its thing". The extended eye piece is fantastic for my eyeglasses and helps my nose from not smudging my screen on my Canon R6 camera. My situation was probably 1 out of a thousand for loosening the screws on my eye piece. It took me and my friends a week to loosen one of screws and we stripped the head on the other screw. I took it to a very trusted jeweler and he had to cut the old eyepiece apart. $60 later I attached the extended eyepiece which I am enjoying. The screws seem maybe a millimeter too long. The eyepiece jiggles a bit, but doesn't bother me. I may try to grind the ends off a bit. ... show more
