  • WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Style: Kit Includes Battery and Charger Size: 21"
I like everything about this mower because it gets the job done! I bought this mower for a very large front, back AND side yard with VERY TALL and strong dandelion weeds. The cheapest lawn care provider I could find to mow the yard was $50 a visit. My reel mower wouldn’t cut the dandelions and the time it took in the yard was ridiculous. Approximately 2 to 2.5 hours on just the front yard with my reel mower. So, I had no choice but to hire someone. After doing the math and considering how much a $50 visit twice a month would cost over a year’s time in southern weather, I chose to buy a battery powered mower. I had no desire to purchase a gas mower that pollutes and costs per use. Instead I searched for the best battery operated mower. That search led me to the Snapper XD 82V 21-Inch. Make sure to get the kit with 2 batteries and RAPID charger as it will make all the difference when achieving satisfaction with this product. This is the scenario: My weeds are growing rapidly and have grown over a foot and my reel mower can not chop them down. I’m skeptical in regards to what type of mower I need because battery operated versus gas may not be powerful enough. Due to the size of my yard I’m considering a riding mower which is not really in my budget. After reading reviews I find the Snapper XD 82V MAX. The review says it handles tall grass, something that the other battery operated mowers struggle with. This is my biggest concern. Delivery day comes and I make sure to read the manual and battery care details which actually were of value. I don’t store my batteries or their charger in the garage because of what I read on proper care. The heat in the garage is no good for them, so they stay in a closet in the guest room. After charging the batteries for the first time and choosing which yard I will start with for the day, I go out front and fire it up. The power is present, the noise is minimal and the excitement of cutting out $50 mows is setting in. My first push across the grass is seamless and smooth. It’s actually cutting over 1 foot high dandelions!!! My front yard was done in about 50 minutes. It took this long because my grass was so long. I guesstimate the next cut will probably be about 35 minutes or so. The battery deserves its proper due. It goes like this: Tall grass = battery lifespan 20-25 minutes. There’s a surprise though: THE RAPID CHARGER CHARGES IN 20 MINUTES! I NEVER had to wait to finish grass. I just kept swapping it out. The front yard only called for a one time charge. Elaboration: I had 2 fully charged batteries for front yard at start. My first battery died at 20 or 25 minutes. I put the next battery in. It died in about 20 minutes. The first battery was charging while I used the second one. The first battery was fully charged by the time I drained the second one and I only used about 5 minutes of its life to finish the front yard. Thus is the reason I suggest purchasing the mower with 2 battery kit and rapid charger. It makes all the difference. The next day I cut the back yard and side yard. This was the task of tasks. My front grass was shorter than the back and side. This made me wonder if the Snapper XD really had what it takes because these weeds were 2 feet tall and fearless. Once again I pushed the mower into the grass and everything came down. The motor sensor adjusted the power accordingly and eased up where spots were low, but there were MANY tall and thick spots. The Snapper XD did not fail to perform. A sense of pride overcame me as this has been one of my best big ticket investments in recent months. This is how the battery performed cutting my back and side yard consecutively: I changed the battery a total of 6 times. Each battery lasted 20 minutes. Every time I took one out to replace the drained one, I placed the drained one on the charger. Every time I was ready for the next battery it was fully charged and ready to go. No waiting involved. It took a total of 2 hours to cut both the side yard and back yard combined. I expect it to take a lot less time for the next mow since the dandelions have been devoured by the Snapper XD. I also expect the batteries to last longer as well because the grass is no longer as thick and the sensor won’t call for the mower to go into high power mode. I HIGHLY recommend this mower to anyone considering a battery operated mower or just a mower in general. This is not a paid review, just a happy satisfied customer that is proud of their purchase and wanting to share my experience. ... show more

  • WOW. This mower SCREAMS quality.
Style: Kit Includes Battery and Charger Size: 21"
I was on the fence...Old Black n Decker cordless didn't have much juice left in it- battery wise, and required 3 or 4 passes when it did. Had a combination of products for a few weeks to get the lawn mowed, including a weed whacker attachment- which actually worked pretty good! Real narrow cutting path tho. Anyway, looked at ALL the cordless ones on Amazon..even considered a corded. Read a lot of reviews. Was looking for cordless, powerful, and multiple batteries. Found something to dislike in ALL the others..Greenworks, Ego, etc... One looked real good but availability- a few months..?? Really? Summertime here... Very few reviews for the Snapper- but all good. Onto the actual review. First off, everything about this mower SCREAMS quality, and durability. Batteries??? OMG. I am wondering if they're not actually ZPMs from Stargate Atlantis! For those of you who cannot appreciate the reference, suffice to say, they are a very good size, and have a real good quality heft to them- along with a little button to show you how much power is left. There are two of them, and they charge in less than 30 mins. Use one up, charge it while you use the other, or weed whack, or take a break. Choice is yours. And btw, the battery does not slowly lose power and then slowly taper off to a barely spinning blade: It goes full strength until it's depleted. I really like that. The whole mower part is quite sturdy, metal mostly, and feels really good. Good weight to it, though I had no difficulty at all turning it on its side to clean out the grass debris. I went into this purchase expecting it to be excellent at mowing- thinking in the back of my head that SOMEHOW I was still going to wind up disappointed. I was wrong: It cuts excellently, powerfully, and equals the quality of a gas mower. It FEELS like a gas mower. It feels GOOD. I was laughing at a few reviewers who said they were looking forward to mowing their lawns....now I know what they mean. I did not use the included bag, so in a few spots I was mowing over grass debris, and had a few grass hairs sticking up- but I would expect this from ANY mower, and am not disappointed. Did the whole front yard and part of the backyard on the first battery, and I am particular. I should have taken pictures of my backyard...lotta weeds, thick stalks, and weed bushes. The Snapper absolutely DESTROYED them. Keep in mind that the low setting IS pretty low. You might want to start off at the second or third lowest setting and see what your cut looks like. Very little assembly (just look at the included pictures on the instruction diagram if you are unsure of the hard plastic locking arm things). It's pretty quiet also. As I was finishing up my mowing the other day, my neighbor across the street pulled out his gas mower and "annoyed" me with all the noise and the stink of gas fumes. None of that here. I am very, very pleased with this purchase. ... show more

  • Batteries are DEAD - update
Style: Kit Includes Battery and Charger Size: 19"
First purchase of this had two dead batteries; but Amazon replaced it! Big relief. The replacement works just fine. For me, wife close to 70, pushing this 19" battery operated mower is a workout. But I'm SO GLAD not to have to use gas, that the batteries WORK, that the mower works, both as a "mulcher" and as a "bagger," and that it's smallish and maneuverable, that I consider a workout a GOOD thing. The directions do say to charge up the batteries at least every two months. I'm suspecting that if you don't, they may die as the first set of batteries I received were dead. I used the bagger to bag up many bags of grass and leaves this fall, to save for compost. It worked very well. Each battery lasts, for me, I'd guess about 30 to 40 minutes. And that's going through thick grass and leaves. The bagger is very easy to put on and off; you remove a plastic part inside called the "mulcher," close the side chute, and the bagger just sets with hooks onto a metal rod at the back of the mower. As you mow along, if you get into taller or thicker grass, you can hear the engine speed up; then when you get into shorter, thinner grass, it slows back down. Altogether I'm very glad I bought it, and I HOPE it will last for many years. Just have to remember to charge the batteries at least once every two months. UPDATE. Well both my batteries are now dead. I must have left them without re-charging for too long? I just don't know. All I know is both batteries are now ... Un-rechargeable. So now I have a beautiful piece of non-working lawnmower. And the batteries on their own are super-expensive. (or is it the charger? how do I know?) So until something can be done about the little problem of the batteries dying, my advice would have to be, don't buy this. Sigh! ... show more
