  • Title: Smooth Scissor Action—Secure Hold Without Pinching Too Tightly
These scissor-style feeding tongs work pretty well for regular reptile husbandry. Because they utilize a grooved, serrated crimp design at the tips, getting a flawless lock on a feeder mouse's tail can occasionally take more than one try. Depending on exactly where the thin part of the tail lands inside the ridges, it can slip slightly on the first squeeze, requiring you to adjust your angle to get a solid grasp. The standout feature is the excellent tension balance. The jaws don't clamp down with an overly aggressive or crushing pressure. They hold the feeder securely enough to lift and dangle it, but they don't grip so tightly that the tail breaks off. More importantly, when your snake strikes, the tongs release the prey smoothly. There is no risk of the metal refusing to let go, which prevents accidental mouth injuries or stress to the reptile during a feeding strike. The long handles also keep your hands a safe distance away from the impact zone. ... show more

  • Nice teeth to hold prey firmly
It’s so great having these new handled tongs. Previously I used the type that looks like huge tweezers and the frozen/thawed rat often slipped right out into places not ideal for my snake to retrieve. I felt like this lead to him consuming substrate. This set has nice grips covered in comfortable silicone. They are durable and very sturdy. I like that it has “teeth” that hold on to the rat much better. I wish they were a little longer so I didn’t have to be so close to striking range. The scissor like form makes them so much easier to use. Now I don’t worry about dropping and can get the rat where he can reach it. ... show more

  • Good length and solid grip
These work exactly as expected. They're long enough to keep a comfortable distance while feeding, and the serrated ends grip food securely. The handles are comfortable and the tongs feel sturdy without being overly heavy.

  • Nifty thing to have! Lotsa uses...
These tongs are okay. I expect if I were to use them as intended, they'd do just fine. But, I was wanting to use them for an other purpose, and because the jaws are somewhat misaligned (see pic), they wont work well for that. The slight jaw misalignment issue aside, they otherwise seem to be of good quality. They're easy to use- the finger holes are a good size and covered with a smooth, plastic material that feels okay, and the tongs open/close easily, and looks like they'd wash up just fine. They're put together with rivets instead of screws so shouldn't loosen up too much with use. The 15" length makes them perfect for a myriad of uses, and the metal is thick enough that they'll remain stable and shouldn't bend easily if you are using with something that has a little weight to it. The price is surprisingly low! ... show more
