    • Winch won't work
Winch does not work. I took a smaller winch off my ranger and put this one on. At first it it would unwind but not retract the cable. While trouble shooting all my connections the ground cable coming from the battery over heated and melted the insulation. Before i could get it disconnected if over heated the relay box. I bought another at the parts store and again same thing, as soon as you connect wires it starts arcing and sucks the battery down. I'm not sure if the relay box is labeled incorrectly or their is a dead short in the winch motor? I unhooked the old winch left the wiring the same and old winch works without any problems. ... show more

Mounted winch on my rzr, I like that it was a hassle free install. Wires clearly identified, no missing pieces. The synthetic line reduces the weight will reserve my 5 star rating until I am required to use the unit. I have a Smittybilt 10,000 lb winch on my jeep and have not had any issues. Decent winch for the money. I have owned every brand out there, works like any winch should, just not the best. The power is ok, struggled to pull a 4-wheeler out of a ditch. I ended up going with a different brand on my other 4-wheelers.

This is a great Quality winch backed by a lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong! I waited for over a year to submit a review because somthing like this usually works great out of the box but long term dependability is the most important factor. I have 2 of these on ATVs we use on our property for everything from plowing snow (over 350ft of paved driveway) to pulling fence posts, and the weekends playing in the hills, these winches have been used hard and are still running strong. The first one replaced a Superwinch that wasn't a year old and failed. The Smittybilt's 3.9 HP motor pulls hard and fast, makes the Superwinch look like a kids toy! ... show more
