As a full-time working mom with two kids under 6, finding time to get to the gym just isn’t realistic anymore. I started putting together a small garage gym earlier this year, and the Megastar P107 Smith Machine has been, hands down, the best investment I’ve made. My husband was initially skeptical of spending this much on a machine, but now he uses it more than I do! Assembly took us the better part of an afternoon, but the instructions were clear, and all the parts were labeled well. It was definitely a two-person job, especially for getting the upright posts in place and routing the pulley cables correctly. But once we finished, we both stood back and said: “This looks like something straight out of a real gym.” From a woman’s perspective, I love how safe it feels. I do squats, cable kickbacks, shoulder presses, and glute exercises — all with zero fear of tipping, imbalance, or injury. The smith bar moves smoothly and has built-in stops, which means I can lift heavy without worrying about getting pinned. Now I sneak in workouts during nap time or after bedtime. I’ve used a few home Smith machines before, and the plastic sleeves always felt cheap. The full metal sleeve on this one lets me load up heavy without worrying about wear and tear. Handles 400+ lbs with no problem!

I bought the P107 for my garage gym because I was tired of wasting time driving to the gym after work. What I didn’t expect was that it would become something that brought me and my teenage son closer together. He just turned 15 and wanted to start weight training for football. I wanted something safe, stable, and versatile — and this machine checks every box. First off, it’s built like a tank. The frame doesn’t move, even when I’m squatting 315. The smith bar glides smoothly, the cables are strong and quiet, and the overall construction just screams quality. Assembly took us about 5 hours, working together, which turned out to be a fun father-son project. Instructions were solid, but some of the pulley routing needed trial and error. Now we train together 4–5 nights a week. He uses the smith bar for squats and presses — it helps him stay in proper form. I use it for heavy compound lifts, rows, landmine movements, and pull-ups. "I work odd hours and can’t always get to the gym. This machine lets me train like I’m in a real fitness center. The Smith bar is smooth and balanced. I use the high pulley for lat pulldowns and the low one for curls. Super happy with the quality. Notice: you’ll need at least two people to move and assemble this. It’s extremely heavy. Once it’s up, it feels solid and smooth, but prepare for a half-day project."
