I have like 6 smart locks and have actually reviewed or installed at least 6 or 7 others so I have had some fun with these. I actually bought the handle/deadbolt kit AND the separate deadbolt for another door so my reviews will be very similar. First, they are attractive looking pieces (as far as smart locks go). The handle on this is the newer style and immediately adds a touch of class to any front door. It was a little bit of an advanced move to replace a door KNOB with a door PULL that needs an extra very specifically drilled hole for the pull but they included a nice template to help with that. It was literally the hardest part of the install (again, I've installed a lot of these and different brands). That aside, it was an easy swap of the existing lockset and deadbolt. There's the usual "fun" with really needing three hands so as I always recommend - get thick blue painters tape for your 3rd hand. It wont mar your door surface when you need to get the outside unit hooked to the inside unit while not letting either fall. They are all like that so it's not unique. I am not thrilled that this requires a gateway - it's kind of annoying - BUT I thank them for including it. I have another one that uses a gateway but they did NOT include it so when you buy a smart lock in the $100-$200 range it's a little frustrating to have to buy another $30 gateway so you can control it beyond bluetooth range. Thank you for that. In all, it's a great price for a front door lock and deadbolt - it's a really great deal when you consider it's a smart lock and comes with biometrics, pins, fobs, home automation integration (ish its more like voice control) and hard keys plus the app. They did a great job with this lock set. Got kids? A nanny? A cleaning person? A contractor? A Dog walker? - GET ONE OF THESE. Life is so much easier when you can set these up. Also...military families...smart locks are a gift from heaven. Why? They auto lock so when you are alone or are the sole parent and are just thankful you finally got the kids to bed and forgot about checking the doors because you're exhausted. Click. They lock themselves. Hands full? Upstairs? Working on a project? Someone (you know) is at the door "Google, open front door lock" - done. Plus the peace of mind is worth it. One little pro tip...rechargeable batteries are great if you can swing it but they dont all fit. Amazon's are a little fat when you need to install four. Some brands are a bit thinner and do work. If you dont want to think about it - go Lithium. They say alkaline but lithium holds up to all weather and lasts waaaaaaay longer. Great buy.
