I found its perfect for small hybrid cameras (the pics are with a Lumix S5iiX) and really useful for both interview and run & gun shooting. Incredible value for the price. The media could not be loaded. After writing a bad review, Smallrig was kind enough to reach out to me and help resolve my issue! Thanks Smallrig! old review: Read before you buy!!! I purchased this along with Smallrigs expensive V99 battery, and all I can say that they are not compatible. When the battery is attached I am able to wiggle it apart. You can see that the plate is not in tolerance and is off by a few milimeters, just enough for the plate to be twisted off. I have never expirienced this with vmounts before. I am SO DISSAPOINTED! Heres my review for the V99: NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I have this battery along with Smallrigs Vmount battery plate. When I attach the V99 battery to the vmount plate, I noticed I am able to wiggle it apart/off. BEWARE the vmount is not secure, I already dropped my battery from resting my rig against my chest. So I sandwiched an extra plate that comes with the Smallrig Vmount plate and seems to be secure but is only held with one 1/4”-20 screw. These are both Smallrig products, I’m not understanding why I need to install a second plate for it to work, for such an expensive item and all the advertising they have with the two, you would think they are compatible together, get it right smallrig! Hopefully Smallrig revises these Vmount locking plates asap or I will be going back to my FXLions.

So I've had this for quite a while and love it. The convenience and form factor is the reason I bought it. Over time I've noticed some of the parts in it getting loose. Even on a tripod, I notice the slightest movement of the plates. I've tightened every bolt I can access but doesn't seem to have made the slightest difference.

Don’t waste your money on any other V-mount plate. This is the only one you need. I regret going the cheaper route at first with the other mount with rods. After a few gigs you’ll quickly be wanting this one. Way lighter and easier to carry.

I wanted a rail-less rig that could support a v-mount and easily slide on sticks or my over-the-shoulder mount. This was the answer! It even slides right onto both my a7c and fx3 cages via arca rail so need for extra arca plate. I just slapped a manfrotto plate on bottom and it was good to go! Feels incredibly sturdy and secure too. This is the missing piece I needed to properly complete my cinema rig, can't recommend enough!

I'm using this with the SmallRig Cage for Sony Alpha 7R V/Alpha 7 IV/Alpha 7S III/Alpha 7R IV/Alpha 1 with VG-C4EM Battery Grip - 3594 and the SmallRig V Mount Battery VB99 SE, 99Wh / 6800mAh Mini V-Mount Battery. The power from the VB99 eliminates the need for the battery grip (for video) but would make the rig clumsy If I need to take photos. I like the form factor with the battery grip and will keep it on my rig.
