One thing I was unaware of but very glad once I discovered was that the tightening screws can be pulled to tighten in tight areas where other things like a camera cage or shoulder rig could normally prevent farther turning. You can be sure you’ll have a tight fit on 15mm rods.

This Railblock is super light, well designed and has ratcheting knobs. I understand that for the price, the precision isn't going to be top notch. Since this item is painted, rather than anodized, the inside rail dimensions are just a few thousandths smaller than spec. This required me to pry them open with a screwdriver just a wee bit. The inside of the rod holes were not deburred so they scrached up my carbon fiber rods pretty badly. Again, I just used the screwdriver to debur the inner edges and it fit and works fine now. If you purchase this item, be sure to check the inside of the slots to make sure they are free of sharp edges before putting your rods in them or they will get ugly.

Well made and seems like it will last awhile. Comes with screws and a wrench. I’m using it with the SmallRig V-mount assembly to connect a battery to rails on a BMPCC4K rig. It works well to mount this directly to the V-Mount plate, but only if you are okay with the battery on the very back of the 15mm rods (the battery extends lower than the holes where the rods Insert). If want the battery to sit farther along the rods then you will also need some sort of cheese plate.

The camera accessories market is filled with overpriced pieces of metal that really don't do much, but are critical to shooting. For $15, this rod clamp fit the bill for me and I couldn't be happier. I feel that I got something that was worth every penny.

Smallrig rod accessories are very well made and should last a very long time. They look good, have no sharp edges and come in a large variety of sizes and uses. And when you tighten them to the rod, they really grip. Not going anywhere. One of their best features is the adjustable thumbscrew. It gives you excellent leverage, but if it runs into anything you can pull up the spring-loaded handle and reposition the handle to clear obstacles. Machining is uniformly excellent and precise. Threaded holes are in logical places and allow a lot of flexibility in mounting. This particular mount is more of a bridge, with various threaded holes in it. It's lightweight and well built. I've bought a lot from SmallRig and will probably buy more.

SmallRig makes the best camera hardware at the best price. This clamp set was a great addition to my GH5 rig, and at a much more reasonable price than a lot of other brands. Still very high quality with attention to detail. Gives me the flexibility to mount lots of things to my cage.
