It's string snd can easily hold a large camera, however if you are trying to put it on the back of your desk I recommend having a desk that moves otherwise it makes it very tough to get to. Also put your camera on first cause otherwise you won't be able to get it on otherwise which I think is a small over sight but at the same time it probably would increase cost and lose reliability if they added a quick release to it. At the end of it I'd say it's more reliable then most other brands.

UPDATE: I am updating this review to state that, while I DID return the product, there was nothing faulty about it at all. That it would not work for my purposes was entirely reliant upon the limited space available on my desk area. However, SmallRig made the extra effort to contact me to see if they could help with a different product, etc. Clearly, they are a company which focuses on quality products AND great customer service. I have operated my own business for 30 years, and while creating quality products is key, great customer service always makes the difference. Because of SmallRig's attention to the satisfaction of their customers, I would not hesitate to purchase an item from them again. OLD REVIEW: This was too tall to fit across the back of my desk. I have returned the item. Other than that, it seemed sturdy and would probably have worked had it been a little more adjustable, height-wise.

I bought this to attach my spotting scope to the shooting bench at my local outdoor gun range. It locks down nice and solid and works like a champ! I would absolutely recommend this mount. So many of these are made of cheap pot metal and bend the clamp the first time you use it. Not this one. It has been used several times with no problems whatsoever.

So the product works great. Its just a pain for me since my desk is against a wall to remove the camera and re mount it. Is there a fast way of mounting? Like for example an arca swiss plate or something that u can just slide it in and lock it instead of having to spin it on?

I bought this for my craft room. I’ve been using my husbands photography ring light on a tri-pod for a few years now, and it worked fine. However I needed more storage and wanted to add an IKEA Alex unit next to my work station, but with the tri-pod took up the space I needed for the Alex unit. I looked at other lights and actually did buy a replacement for the ring light, but the ring light was hands above the new light in performance. The only thing I liked about the new light was that it hooked to the desk directly and Fred up that space. So hubby suggested a desk attachment instead of a new light.. I happened across this Smallrig device and ordered it. I am very happy with my purchase and it was simple and quick to put together. It’s sturdy, moves in all the ways I need it to, and stays where I put it. Now I have light and quick access to my tools & supplies.
