- Rugged Full Cage: This cage is customized for Canon R6 Mark II, locking the camera via one 1/4"-20 screw at the bottom and one side lock adapter on both sides. It also maintains full access to the button, card slot, screen, and battery door.
- Dual NATO Rails: R6 Mark II cage built-in NATO rails on the top and the left side to achieve quick switch NATO top handle (ID: 3766), monitor mount (ID: 2906B) and rotating NATO side handle (ID: 3847).
- Stable Vertical Shooting: The cage is integrated with two 1/4"-20 threaded holes in the horizontal direction on the right side to prevent the camera from twisting when shooting vertically.
- Quick Switch Design: Quick release plate for Arca at the bottom that supports tripod and RS 2 / RSC 2 / RS 3 / RS 3 Pro for quick switching between stabilizer, handheld, and tripod shooting.
- Multiple Mounting Options: It features 1/4"-20 threaded holes, 3/8"-16 threaded holes, and 3/8"-16 locating holes for ARRI for top handle (ID: 3765) or monitor mount (ID: 2903), cold shoe to attach microphone, LED video light (ID:3405), strap holes for hand strap (ID: 3848), as well as a QD socket.

We considered this or that Black Mamba version. As much as I liked and wanted the Black Mama version. This model had more built in NATO mount points which meant less NATO rails bing bolted on. Making it smaller than the black Mamba for our use. And we we’ve been very happy with it.

I got this for my R62 and it has been very good so far. With the locking pins installed, it's very stable. It doesn't flex or budge at all. The right-side ergonomics are great, with the metal railing following the shape of the camera handle. If not for the extra weight, you could just leave it on and shoot photos with it attached – it's that well-formed and unobtrusive.

If you are okay carrying with a chunky camera, cages are great to attach mics and any extra accessories. SmallRig became my favorite brand on this field .

It doesn’t have the anti-rotation pins on the bottom. Instead, it relies on the pins inserted into the strap mount hooks. I bought this thinking it had the pins on the bottom, like the original R6 version. If you don’t use the screws on the sides, it is NOT stable. So don’t be buying this thinking you can skip that step.

I was able to hook up a microphone and a Pocket 2 camera (without using the hot shoe on my camera) for a second view and then record my son’s lacrosse team. The Small Rig cage made it so much easier to set everything up.

This model has 2 anchor points at the camera strap. Far better design than the r6 version. I have both.

I bought this cage with the intent of using it with my DJI RS3 and retaining that gimbal’s awesome quick-release feature. I’m a hybrid shooter and often switch between my gimbal for video and handheld for photography. SmallRig advertises this cage as compatible with the RS2/RS3 and it will go into the RS3’s Arca-Swiss plate, but because of the way the cage is designed, it will not go into the RS3’s Arca-Swiss plate in the direction it needs to for retaining that quick-release function. To actually mount this cage to the RS3, you either have to screw another plate to the cage or remove the gimbal’s slide plate and re-install it after the cage is mounted. The cage itself is solid. It feels good in hand and allows you to mount whatever accessories you want to, but not retaining that quick-release function is a big miss, especially since it’s advertised as compatible with RS3/RS2.
