I wanted a cage to have more mounting points, specially the ARRI mounts, but didn't want it too look bulky either. This half cage is just what I needed. Doesn't make it heavy, and looks great on the FX30. Very sturdy, and the prize for the half cage is right on budget.

Nice design and really sleek metal finish. If you have big hands though it may be uncomfortable to hold. where your pinky goes past the grip you’re going to have a much better hand feel with the full size cage as it supports the lower finger. The cable locks that come with the bigger kit aren’t necessary when getting 90 degree cables.

This has been my main cage since I bought it. I even stopped using my Kondor Blue full cage. This one is very minimal, light but still great mounting options, and much lighter on my gimbal

Exactly what I was looking for

Both FX3 and FX30 have the same outer shell, so it's no surprise to me that this cage fit. With that said, I typically prefer a full cages for my cameras. However, the FX30 has a pretty deep hand grip already. So if you don't have particularly large hands and will be mounting the camera with a top handle or gimbal, then this half cage should work fine. Something I like about this particular model is the top plate. It doubles as a NATO rail but it's also designed to leave the hot shoe mount on the camera free so you can attach a microphone. Overall, I recommend this half cage by SmallRig.
