This cage fits my camera perfectly and adds great protection without a lot of bulk. I really appreciate that it includes a built-in Arca-style mounting plate—it works flawlessly with all my tripods, including my Peak Design setup. No need to swap out plates anymore, which is a huge win. That said, the cage does make it harder to access the wired trigger port. You can still get to it, but it takes some finger gymnastics. Overall, it’s a great choice if you want protection and a permanent tripod-ready setup—but be aware you’ll trade a little convenience when it comes to ports and accessories.

I love this cage. With an attachment of a plate to the side it does everything an L-bracket does and more, plus it allows for the complete movement of the swing out LCD screen. One annoyance. I don't like the placement of the "SmallRig" label right over the Canon label on my camera. I find it ostentatious that the manufacturer of an accessory would put their name "SmallRig" so boldly over that of a $4300 Canon Camera. So I blacked out the SmallRig label completely with black paint. I think a better placement the SmallRig label would be on the baseplate of the cage.

This Smallrig cage is very nice. Fits perfectly and is nicely machined. Has all the features as you would expect from Smallrig, and this kit also comes with a nice top handle and cable keeper. I really like most everything about this kit (by the way, this is my 5th Smallrig cage) except for the finish. It has some kind of a gritty texture which, to me, feels like nails on a chalk board. I wish they went with their usual smooth finish. Overall, this is a small issue, and I will still use it for many years, but in my mind, the finish was a solution without a problem. The finish is a 1 star ding in my review.

The media could not be loaded. If you want to destroy your gear, buy this product. I damaged my brand new $350 Godox flash just by mounting it into this rig on my Canon R5 Mark II. It locked the flash tightly in the hot shoe, and I couldn’t remove it without force. As a result, the flash’s contacts broke completely. On top of that, the hot shoe mount from my microphone doesn’t lock into this cage at all. Nothing fits securely — not the flash, not the mic, not even standard camera gear. I have no idea how anything is supposed to stay in place with this setup. This thing is a heavy piece of junk. The worst design I’ve ever seen. Goodbye, SmallRig — I’m never wasting another cent on your garbage.

Awesome product, very excited to have this for my R5 mark ii. It’s functional, fits perfect, and doesn’t feel too large or overbearing, so I can leave it on the body even when I’m not doing video. Extremely easy to connect and the three points of contact makes it grip perfectly so you know it’s secure no matter what happens.
