This is a great cage, easy to put on (three points for a secure fit) and it has a lot of mounting options. 1/4"-20 threads, 3/8"-16 threads and one cold shoe. It's comfortable and fits really well on my Canon R6 MkII, leaving all the necessary access points easily accessible, and my third party camera strap fits well. It's well built and very durable. I love the little tool that comes with it and its magnetic hidey-hole on the bottom for safe keeping. Two things I didn't even think about before purchasing 1. The top part of the cage in the front, makes using my external flash impossible. My old 420EX gets caught on the cage and doesn't seat into the hot shoe of the camera far enough to engage the TTL metering, so all the pictures are full power flash and unusable. There's probably a fiddly way to make it work, and the one time I did get it to work I had no idea what I did. I don't use my flash very often, so it's not a big deal, I just need to remember to remove the cage before using the flash. 2. I didn't realize that my Falcam quick release system wasn't compatible to receive the Arca Swiss plate on the bottom of the cage. My hope was to just be able to use the cages built-in plate on all my existing tripod receivers, which are all Falcam. Falcam is Arca Swiss compatible...just the other way around. You can put Falcam plates on Arca Swiss receivers, but not Arca Swiss plates on Falcam receivers. Luckily there are five different 1/4"-20 threaded holes on the bottom of the cage and one 3/8"-16 threaded hole, so I can just attach the Falcam plate anyway....or just go all Arca Swiss. I've only had it a few days and so far I really like it minus these two surprises. I still highly recommend it if you don't shoot with an external flash regularly.

I like the quality and ergos of this cage. It fits around the upper right portion of the camera better than the non mamba version. I am using it on an r5 and an r6, both the original version, and it fits perfectly. The newer cameras are a bit taller at the hot shoe/EVF so a cage designed for them will fit fine on the older cameras. I use these when I am shooting video they allow mounting of accesories with ease, and will even hook upto a tripod if you are using the Arca swiss.

The SmallRig “Black Mamba” cage is an awesome fit for my Canon R6 Mark II. I’m using it with a top handle and a V-mount battery plate, and the whole setup feels super solid and balanced. The design gives great access to all the ports and buttons, and the grip contours match the camera perfectly. It’s lightweight but sturdy, and the mounting options make it easy to build out your rig exactly how you want. If you shoot video on the R6 Mark II, this cage is a no-brainer — it just works.

Love these cages. Fit my camera bodies beautifully and adds capability and protection. I shoot motorsports and have two bodies on a harness. If I was shooting portraits or studio work, I wouldn't need this. Good ability to add attachments for video, too.

This is the perfect fit for my Canon R6 Mark II. I love that it comes with a magnetic tool that lets you easily remove it or ensure everything stays tight. I connect a handle, monitor, battery mount, and microphone for video shoots, and this has many connection options. It handles everything with ease. Even without the top handle, I can easily connect a monitor when I am on a tripod filming podcasts or interviews. It is lightweight. I thought I would take it off during extended photo sessions, but because of the design, it doesn't get in my way, and I usually leave it on.

I highly recommend this cage. I initially wasn't sure about spending the extra money over the generic SmallRig cage for the R6 Mark II, but I am so glad I opted for the Black Mamba cage. It's incredibly sleek without sacrificing sturdiness, and the fit almost feels like there's no cage at all. It was easy to install with the installation tool that SmallRig always keeps attached magnetically to the bottom of their cages (thank you for this, please keep doing that)-- just the tripod screw and 2 inserts into the strap slots. There's also no annoying crossbar over the grip like virtually every other cage, which allows for easy access to the record button, OFF/LOCK/ON switch, and everything up there. The mounting options are relatively solid, but I do wish the bar on the ports side was also a NATO rail. That's my only complaint, but plenty of options exist for low-profile NATO rails, like SmallRig's, which I use.
