This stand is a great happy medium between the cheapest stands and fully professional stands. I think the head can deliver smooth pans at close range, but not at longer reach. For example, I was using this with a Canon XF405 in the back of a 600-seat theater. At that range, this head proved a bit jerky when following people, but it was easy to set up fixed shots. I also found that there are a lot of places to tighten and loosen the stand for panning. This is good, but like anything, it will take some time for you to get used to it so you can make adjustments quickly. The first few events, I found myself searching for a mystery tightening tool. You'll get used to where they are. So, I originally bought one of these stands to try. I have now bought them for my 3 cameras, and use them on most projects. I only break out a nicer stand when I need smoother panning shots. These Small Rigs are simple, lightweight, and if one breaks, it isn't the end of the world. I did break one of these stands, but it wasn't the stand's fault. I tripped and as I was falling, I protected the camera, rather than the tripod. I was totally fine sacrificing the tripod in that case. So, this is surprisingly good value at this price point, providing much better performance than an entry level tripod, without the cost of higher end tripods. It doesn't quite measure up to stands 3x more expensive, but it does let you save those for events where you really need it. :)

I've been searching for a travel tripod for some time now. The main feature that drew me is the fact that it seamlessly integrates the manfrotto style plate and also accommodates the DJI RS3 baseplate with one simple click. This makes it easy for me to transition quickly from stationary shots to my gimbal relatively quickly. Certainly a lot quicker than all the arca swiss style mounts out there. The thing is also pretty small, I can comfortably carry it around, it fits well in my luggage, and extends to a decent height when I need. Build quality is solid too, though that is to be expected from SmallRig. If i had a complaint it would be that it can be slightly wobbly when all my equipment is set up on it, but honestly for a tripod of this size and profile I don't think that's avoidable anyway, you'd have to get something bigger and heavier for sure. I tried many travel tripods on amazon and they were decent, but this one just stands out for me.

Good tripod, I was kind of surprised because there wasn't anything for me to even set up, nor any instructions. Obviously you have to screw that little arm in there but everything is easy and simple to use.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: As a multimedia professional photographer and videographer, I have and use many of the top professional brands which cost more than a 1000. This product might not be those but it is made very well, it is professional grade. It's light weight and very study. It holds my Canon EOS R5C Body with a heavy pro lens just fine. I wanted a quality tripod for shooting video and photos of my daughter's performances, but as I'm not a professional, I didn't want the hefty price tag of some commercial-grade tripods. I still needed smooth motion capability as so many cheap tripods are very rough when panning and often make noise when they do. So far I've used the SmallRig CT210 to record four full productions and it has worked flawlessly. It's very sturdy and operates smoothly. I like how the legs fold and collapse quickly with the quick release. I've also gotten multiple comments from people admiring it. The well-made, padded carrying case is a great plus. Very happy with my purchase.

I have used many tripods in the last 40 years. This SmallRig CT210 is affordable, well-made and versatile. Why one star? I can't figure out how to fold it, how to make it a monopod, what the leveling base is for, etc. The user manual is just pictures, no words, and the pictures are insufficient. I can't figure out the QR base plate, which is supposed to make it easy to put the camera on and take the camera off without having to screw it on every time. The problem is the plate cannot be removed without unscrewing the locking knob. Once you do that, the plate slides all around the fixture. I screw the plate onto camera, which doesn't screw on tight enough, so it jiggles a bit. Then i put the camer and plate back onto the tripod, which doesn't "snap" unless the knob is loosened, so when you snap the camer aon, it, you guessed it, slides all over the fixture and right off it. Really unhappy about this. Proper instructions are a necessity. Don't recommend to anyone who is not used to modern tripods.
