Having used the earlier version of a similar battery, my main "critique" of the recharagable battery was that it triggered a warning from the camera about a 3rd party device. Not this time. This Small Rig battery has several positives. For those wanting it to be more obvious in their bags, it's a bright international orange. Easy to spot and keep track of in your gear bags. It fits the Sony A7Cii camera perfectly. It rechages easily and a simple LED (red - charging/green - done) lets you keep track of the charging. Instructions say you can recharge directly via USB-c or the "charger - in this case the camera" . If you use the camera, it seems to be compatable with the Sony original battery. But directly connecting it may be quicker. In use, I've found it to be equal to the Sony OME. Both have easily lasted nearly 700 photos for me. Same for the OEM requiring a rechage via the camera, I would recommend either for starting the day and swapping out when one finally reaches the end of its charge. At half the price of the OME, it's worth getting two, although I doubt you'll ever need both. Recommendation: a worthy spare power source / buy with confidence. ... show more

This battery is being used in our Sony A7RV and Sony A7IV without showing any error on the cameras which is a common problem for 3rd party batteries (e.g. Watson) with these cameras. Well made with a handy direct USB C charging port on the battery that works but is very slow. They seem to provide the same life as the native Sony batteries but I cannot comment on longevity (repeated recharge life) at this time. Well made and of very high quality which is common with Smallrig products. Charging in camera works fine as well as in the standard Sony battery charger, again with the proviso that they seem to take longer than standard Sony batteries to recharge. I estimate they take around 2 hours longer to charge from 25% than the Sony batteries. Pricing seems variable. I purchased one and then wanted another one around 3 days later only to find the price had gone up 15% and then when I looked the following week they were down to the original price. If they have the same longevity as the Sony batteries they will be very good value (my Sony batteries have lasted 3 to 4 years without an issue and still hold their charge well). Only time will tell. Recommended with the proviso that I have no data on how long they continue to work at full capacity, so worth trying out. ... show more

So glad I found these batteries. They are a game changer for travel. You don’t need to carry heavy extra charging equipment and the battery life is excellent. It is at least as good as Sony battery and maybe better at an amazing price.

The battery sometimes has issues in the camera with the correct percentage level. I always use my third party batteries first and use my OEMs as backups in case of failures. When this battery goes into my camera, it lasts the full shoot. When charging, the battery gets warm but that is expected. I love the USB-C on the end of it in making simple work of my charging needs. Would recommend to a camera friend. Chose the blue one because it matches my camera wrap. ... show more

I got this for my Sony A7CII and can confirm that it is compatible, perfectly, with the camera. The battery does not trigger any warning messages typically displayed for third-party batteries even with the latest version of the A7CII firmware at the time of this writing (firmware ver. 2.00). The battery holds charge very well, as well as a new first-party Sony battery. It also has the added benefit of being chargeable via USB, making it better than a Sony battery in terms of ease of use while also being considerably less expensive. It also comes with a battery cover, which is nice. I can also confirm that while this battery has a USB charging port, it can also be charged in-camera, in the same manner as a Sony battery without a charging port. ... show more

These are a great find..way cheaper than classic Sony 100 batteries and even more convenient being able to charge with USB C. I picked up a few of these to start replacing my batteries and I do not see a difference in battery, life or performance. Of course you get the error message warning you that your camera could explode, but it seems to work the same otherwise. Quality I haven't had any issues. I so far have three of these plus three of the Canon type and they all seem to be like they are solid quality and capability working with my different cameras ... show more
