Fantastic unit to help cool a large room, a whole new AC condenser just isn’t in the budget right now. We went to our local Home Depot & for the same 8t unit it was $498!!! We purchased this 8t unit for $195 & couldn’t be happier, we could have bought 2 of these for $100 less than the 1 at the big box store. This also showed a lower energy usage than the 8t unit at HD which was $90 a year, this unit shows only $72! I did however need to add foam sealing tape to the window exhaust panel bc we wanted to be able to still open the window at night. Otherwise I would have added tape to seal the gaps. If they could add some foam sealing tape to the box contents, it would be even better. But none of them do. So it’s not going to affect my 5 star rating. See pictures with this review ... show more

We are challenging this unit by using it on a screen porch that has vinyl windows and faces west. So though we haven't gotten the whole area cooled yet (we don't run it for super long) we will be keeping this unit. On the dehumidifier setting in the front one can see the current temperature; when it's on the AC it displays the temp of the AC setting. We would have preferred to see the actual room temp all the time. Regardless it works and is surprisingly super quiet. It's like a bit of white noise in the background but not disturbing at all. I've been using it for a couple of weeks. Cools a 15 × 20 room off fairly quickly and effectively. Pulls about a gallon of water a day, running 8 hours , out of the air here in the coastal south. My only quibble is it seems to not always restart after auto shutoff.

I run a sober living house in Portland, Oregon, and I fully supply it from Amazon. I've bought about 9 different portable AC units at different times for different rooms. This AC unit was purchased for my personal room. It was $100 cheaper than any of the others I've purchased and so far the unit and the window kit that's included are the best yet. Went to install and the adjustable Window Kit it is too long (see attached Photo) for my window; it fits but just not able to install the exhaust hose because more than half the hole is covered and that defects the purpose . The description on Amazon states, No professional help needed! Our portable air conditioners window kit is designed for a universal fit, accommodating horizontal or vertical sliding windows (20"–50"), my window is within the measurements of the universal fit. Is there a smaller Window Kit that can be sent to me? Please advise if there is a way to fit this? Looking forward to hearing from you soon (before it gets too hot) on how to resolve this problem. ... show more

This portable air conditioner is quiet and compact. The pipes it comes with can be easily clamped onto the window, making installation simple. With it, I can get through this summer comfortably.

I desperately needed this portable air conditioner to work!! My heat pump/air conditioner blew out, and there's no way I can afford the $11K they're asking. So, I bought this one to help with fans during the humid upper-90's summer. The other reviews talk about how quiet it is, how convenient it is, and how cool it gets a room. I didn't get that. The auto shutoff has never worked, no matter what I try. The advertisement says it works with all windows, apparently only "all" something other than the typical 34" and 36". No. The drawings shown in the basic instructions all say 37+ inches. It is not at all quiet. I've been wearing my noise cancelling earbuds just to sit in my living room. It is extremely heavy, and since I have to move it every 3 to 4 hours to drain at least 2 gallons of humidity from the big bucket in my living room, it is truly heavy. It runs the dehumidfier ALL THE TIME. and flooded my living room before I realized the 'auto shutoff' really doesn't. I guess I'll have to somehow wrangle this VERY heavy unusable unit back to UPS for return. I'm sick over it, but I did everything the short instructions said. I WILL ADD photos shortly. ... show more
