    • A real winner for our larger dog!
I was encouraged by our vet to get a slow-feeding bowl for our 5-1/2 lb Chihuahua girl who wolfed down kibble so quickly that she almost choked a couple of times. Unfortunately, this bowl didn’t work for our tiny girl, who wasn’t really able to get her snout down far enough between the raised design elements for her little tongue to be able to pick up the kibble bits. BUT we also have a 10 lb Chihuahua who has had morning vomiting issues after going most of the night with an empty tummy and then eating his breakfast way, way too quickly, and for him, this bowl has been just perfect! With our larger male Chi, I’m able to press canned food chunks far down into the bottoms of the raised bone design, and with his longer snout/tongue, he’s actually able to clean out every last bit of wet food. Whereas previously he’d down a plate of food in mere seconds, it’s now taking him several minutes to lick clean all the nooks and crannies, and this has been a great help in slowing down his feeding process. Love that this is silicone and non-breakable, and the suction cups on the bottom work well to prevent the bowl from scooting all over the floor while our boy pushes his snout around to root out all of the hard-to-get food. I will say the one caution is to clean carefully to ensure that all of the food is washed out of the nooks and crannies in the event that some is missed. A soft brush does wonders on spots that a regular dish sponge might miss. Although not fit for our original intended purpose, this bowl has wound up being a winner for our other dog! ... show more

This works super well at slowing my dogs eating down. In fact, both my dogs like using this, even though only one needs it! It is easy for them to lick all the food out of it and it is very easy to clean!

    • Too big for cats
With the cute fish design, I was hoping this slow feeder bowl would slow down my fat cat's eating habits. Unfortunately, when I put the bowl in front of him, he sniffed it, looked at me, promised to make my life difficult and refused to eat it. Even his food-stealing brother felt it was too much of a bother. I think the bowl was too deep for them to be able to get the kibble. I love that the dish is dishwasher safe and dried thoroughly so no worry of mold. I will use this bowl as a slow feeder for my small dog's wet food instead. ... show more

This dog dish has made it a bit more fun to feed our puppy and has helped him not scarf his food down to give him a tummy ache, cough or choke. He also unable to chew up the dish. It does have suction cups if we chose to put it on a floor that it could stick to. It is a smaller dish for a smaller breed. It has been okay to clean. We do not have a dishwasher, so we hand wash.     • Seems sturdy and well made, but NOT effective for my CAT
My cat has been using various slow feeders, much to his irritation, for years, to keep him from scarfing down his kibble and getting sick. I'm looking for a feeder with a smaller footprint than the puzzles and feeder balls (in large boxes) that I've been using. This isn't it. The spaces are way too far apart to slow him down. AT ALL. However, the item is well made, sticks well to the floor, and is easy to clean. I imagine that for a big dog, this would be great. Just not for cats. ... show more

    • Works as expected
The quality of these are nice. I chose this over ceramic or metal bowls because my dog is an excited eater and he goes in hard when it’s time to eat. I felt like this material would be much easier on his teeth and not put him at risk of breaking them. Hard slow feeders can be dangerous for eager eaters who might bite down on a hard surface and hurt themselves. The appearance of these are nice. They are nice looking and soft. They stick to the floor or any surface you place them on so be careful when filling with food not to make a mess when you need to lift. We had a hard time getting our pup to eat all of her food in one setting until a couple of weeks ago where she started to inhale it (and subsequently throw it up). We had heard of slow feeders so wanted to see how this would work and so far so good! She is able to go at a slower pace and hasn't had any incidents of throwing up the food after she ate. She has to work methodically around the lines of the fish "bones" and really work to get around edges - exactly what we needed! We have tile floors so it doesn't stick on them, but it suctions to the bottom of the sink and our quartzite countertop like a champ! Our pup is under 20lbs and 6mos old. The size works great for her, but probably would have been a challenge when she was smaller. ... show more

This bowl is definitely better for smaller animals as it’s not that big. It can fit about 1.5 cups of dog food. It sort of helps slow feeding down but the ridges in the middle aren’t that tall so I’d say that’s the biggest flaw of the bowl. Otherwise it feels durable and looks cute.
