Description

SLIKs exclusive A.M.T. super titanium alloy legs make the PRO 700 DX tripod rock steady yet lighter than it looks. The A. M. T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ration than standard aluminum, meaning the legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of todays tripods. Capable of handling the weight of large format (4x5) field cameras or heavy, long telephoto lenses, The PRO 700 DX offer professional photographers and advanced amateurs the strength and stability they need while its size, and the use of A. M. T. alloy, make it lighter weight and more portable than THE PROFESSIONAL series.A tripod should be easy to use, so that that you spend more time concentrating on your photography than you do your equipment. The PRO 700 DX makes setting up easy with secure yet fast speed release leg locks, gearless center column, and 3 position adjustable angle leg locks for easy set up on uneven ground or steps. The PRO 700 DX center column is actually two threaded pieces that unscrew to convert the top piece to a short column. This combined with the adjustable leg angle locks allows the tripod to be lowered to just 15 inches for very low angle or macro photography in the field. MAX. OPERATING HEIGHT 71 IN MIN. • Big, solid and stable!
I am not a professional photographer, more like serious part time amateur. I have a Canon S3 and find it is perfect for my level of shooting (also have a Canon T70 with multiple lenses and Panasonic G320 digital video that I use on tripod, but I prefer the S3). Based on internet reviews, I ordered the Slik Pro 700 Dx with the 800 Ball Head. First, the tripod is massive! It is really made for much larger cameras than mine, too heavy to lug around while playing tourist. Having said that, I now do not want to take pictures without it. I am 6'2", and this thing easily rises over my head. It is solid and stable, and well made. Each leg is independently adjustable for height and angle. I can hang on this thing for shooting without worry. Center column locks with a twist ring, which I find to be much better than a geared column. The tripod comes with sponge like grips not shown in the picture that make it very comfortable to use. The round tubes are grooved to prevent twist, which adds to the stability. Solid rubber feet on the ends. Open with camera mounted, it does not feel heavy, and the included travel bag make carrying it easy enough for field trips. Matched with the 800 Ball Head, it makes a great tripod. I only regret having used a cheap tripod for so long before stepping to the real thing. ... show more

  • Great Pro level Tripod!
Color: Titanium Configuration: Legs Only
Been a fan of Slik products since the 1970's when I got into photography. Slik does not disappoint with its sturdy and robust quality. Make sure to get a good ball head to mount your gear. Used my Slik ball head 800 to take remote triggered shots, and it was great! Very easy to set up and secure, cant go wrong with this tripod! ... show more

  • Well built and solid
Color: Titanium Configuration: Legs Only
I was a bit skeptical when ordering this. I’m a real estate photographer and when my primary go to tripod broke a leg I was panicking a bit to find a reasonably priced tripod quickly. It takes a while to earn back the cost of an expensive tripod so for my work tripods, I tend to buy something solid, but not at the top of the pile price wise. This SLIK got really good reviews so I ordered one and will be taking it out on several photos shoots tomorrow. So far, I’m very impressed with its build quality and ease of use. For $119 it seems like a steal to me when I’m used to paying $300 or $400 so we’ll give it a shot. Moderately lightweight, good name behind it. So far I’m pleasantly surprised at this budget find. ... show more

I did a lot of research and landed on this one. It is exactly what I needed for a large spotting scope.

  • Kowa 615-900 PRO 700 DX
Color: Titanium Configuration: Legs Only
Very nice tripod. I was looking for something that is relativley light and packable. Very sturdy tripod for heavy and expensive equipment. Not going to go over what everyone else has. What I will tell you is the description is misleading. Weight is a little over 8 lbs without the tripod head (not included, you need to order), not the 6-7 lbs the descriptions mention. Next, I bought this tripod based on the description that it can be lowered to 15", in which it does by making the legs wider not shorter. Would have been nice information to know before purchase. I also was hoping that it would break down to around 15" for carry and travel. Over all length is about 27" when broke down if that is important to you. I'll likely keep it, but disappointed that it does not collapse to around 15", as I believe they could have designed it to. Tripod is really a substantial piece, not really for back packing in my opinion due to the bulkiness of the tripod and misrepresented weight that put me over my over all equipment weight goal. ... show more

  • Wow.
Color: Titanium Configuration: Legs Only
Little did I know that all my other tripods were in reality, weak and puny. Holy Crap. Could probably double as a teepee frame in a pinch. Massive unit. Love it.

  • Pro Quality Tripod at Hobbyist Price
For anyone who uses a large telephoto lens and needs a solid tripod to support it, The Slik Pro 700DX AMT-Titanium Alloy Tripod is one you should definitely consider.I use mine with a 400mm f/2.8 lens mounted on a Digital SLR Body which weighs a total of 14.5lbs. The tripod is offered with a three way pan head which is load rated at 15lbs, or you can purchase the legs only, as I did. I chose to match this tripod up with the Slik Pro 800 Ball Head with Quick Release, which is also available on Amazon.com, and can comfortably handle the load. As the name states, the tripod is made out of super strong Titanium Alloy and weighs about 8lbs. It comes with a carrying bag with straps that allow it to be worn like a backpack. Features include legs with two locking extensions, as well as the ability to lock in any of three angles, allowing you to shoot from a very low position to as high as 74" with the legs and center post fully extended. You can also mount the head on the bottom of the center post for even lower shots. A center shaft extension is offered on Amazon.com, but it is now included with the tripod. You can surely pay a lot more for a better tripod. But I don't think you can pay less for one as good as this. ... show more

  • Kowa "Slik" 700dx
Color: Titanium Configuration: Legs Only
Nice quality tripod. Super price $99.00 Very heavy duty pro tripod. I own two other pro tripods the Bogen 3120 Junk and the the Husky high lift very durable. I own two Gitzo pan heads a slik pro ball, and one bogen. The Kowa will get the Gitzo pan and slik pro ball head. I read favorable reviews on the Slik 700dx from photo.net and other forums . Overall they said and I agree it is an excellent pro level tripod for a fraction of the cost and "you don't get what you paid for " meaning this is a lot of value for the money. I consider this a standard work horse of tripods. Very well designed and engineered. Very rigid and stout . You could spend $400 or more and not get a better tripod. Best value for the money.
