This a closure for a small 4X5 gate that Amazon drivers refuse to close. It took 15 minutes to install and adjust using an electric screwdriver. The adjustment was easy, but trial and error. The instructions are simple, but adequate for the job. As others have said, the mounting screws are inadequate. I bought 4 Stainless hex head screws that were 2.5" long , and the maximum size diameter of the mounting bracket holes. It works nicely. I would tension it just enough to close the gate securely, but not slam it. If the gate was much bigger, I would use two closures. I put this single14" at an angle, near the top of the gate so it wouldn't torque the gate in closing. This is in the gate's inside, which is usually the hinge side. 1/4" in from the 4X4 post, and the 2X4 of the gate frame. Look at my pics. Great product, great price. 14" size.

This wasn’t strong enough for a 5’ wide wood gate. I was going to return it but then decided to try a 2nd (got the 2 pack). With 2, it was successful. The metal bar that comes with the kit in order to spin the spring before inserting the pin is AWFUL. It is too skinny, it slips out and is downright dangerous when you go far with the spring tightness. I literally bent it and through them all in the trash. A metal skinny screwdriver (#1 I think) is able to do it though. I installed on another gate (just 1 not 2 springs) and again had to use screwdriver to get the spring tightness enough to be able to close the door. Anyway just some fiddling goes a long way with these but they are effective.

My super heavy wooden gate now closes on its own. The thing was a bit complex to make tighter only due to the set up of my gate and I. Had to flip it upside down.... but regardless it work, works well and solved the problem of kids leaving the gate open all the time. Was a super good price compared to others and I appreciate that it came with instructions because I was unsure how exactly to mount it. Keeps my dogs safe and seems durable and will last a long time.

These springs are exactly what I needed for my gate and they work pretty good. The reason for my three star review is because they are extremely dangerous. I almost lost a finger trying to tighten one of the springs. It sliced the tip of my finger pretty good The little metal post they give you is so dangerous. I don’t even know how they get away with it I was using a screwdriver and still had an issue be very, very cautious and careful when installing these and adjusting the spring they are what you need but they are very dangerous.

It is simple and effective. I didn’t need it to be very strong. I just wanted the gate to stay closed on its own. If you need to adjust it to a high tension, you should put the adjustment end on the gate to get a better angle for tightening it.
