    • Great compound saw that gets the job done
This was my first time buying a major power tool through Amazon. And, I would do it again. The SKIL compound saw is a great saw. It is built very solid. The extended arms on each side have been very beneficial. The best part is the laser light which takes away the guesswork on where the saw will cut. The angle markings are dead on - it's horrible when you use a saw that says you are cutting at 45 degrees only to find that it wasn't really a 45 degree cut - you wont' have that problem with this saw. Like any saw, it can generate a lot of saw dust, so the dust catching bag is a benefit as well. I have used this saw quite frequently, and I am still getting great cuts out of the original blade that came with it. I use the saw for general household repairs and also for doing compound work for molding and trim. Any fears I had about purchasing a major power tool online have been overcome, and I will return to Amazon to purchase more in the future. ... show more

I love this saw! At first I thought the laser light wasn't working, but alas there is a switch on the handle that turns it off and on. It is very easy to set up and adjust. All of my test cuts have been very accurate. The extension bars on the side are nice, although will only work with shorter cuts. Overall, a nice saw and a great price. ... show more

Great price with the Father's day $15 discount and aligned right out of the box. Easy to set up, cuts are smooth (although will be getting a better blade), light weight and although I have not used lasers on my other miter saws, this one made cutting so much easier. I would recommend for any DIYer as a must have. Would have given it five stars if not for issues with registering the saw for warranty on-line. ... show more

Looks like a beast and rips like a beast. Has great power and leaves cuts so smooth. One small note... the horizontal slide is about 1/8" off to the left when you tighten... I found myself having to loosen and slightly tightening between each cut. It looks to just be the bolt used to secure tp the edging that when overtighten, cause it to cut angled. But being aware of it during use and relying on the laser guide helps account for straight cuts every time. I can live with that minor flaw... ... show more

This is my second 12" skil miter saw, the first one was well used but a friend needed a miter saw so i let him have my old one and purchased this one, my only issue is trying to register this product with Skil, i went to the web site listed on the instructions that came with my unit but for some reason my product is not listed, i guess i will call the phone number listed to register my product, other than that small issue the product is what it is. ... show more

    • Broke very quickly
I had it just beyond the return time frame and it popped like a circuit tripped. Turns out it was the motor or something. Had to take it in for service which could take weeks. It is also not a compound bevel as described. Had I read reviews before I bought it, I would not have bought it.

First let me start by saying I can afford to buy any saw from $1.00 to 100K. I looked online a little and saw this one read the reviews and decided to go with this one. Like the headline says it's a good saw for the average homeowner and weekend woodworker. This is all you would need why waste your money on features you will probably never use.
