  • Excellent Miter Saw For Hobbyists
Style: 10'' Miter Saw
Bought this saw on Amazon’s big spring sale. Very impressed with value for money. Saw is well built and really accurate out of the box. The compound miter function works well. Saw seems very sturdy and will probably hold up well for weekend projects. I don’t know how well it would hold up on daily use. Included blade is useable but probably will be upgrading blade soon. Overall very pleased with this saw. ... show more

  • Havent used it yet but....
Style: 10'' Miter Saw
I will come back later and leave a review once I use it. BUT my old miter saw is a 10 inch Ryobi. Very small...and lightweight. Easy for this old gal to carry in and out of storage but it had all kinds of things wrong with it. Never got straight cuts from it..locking handles broke. It was a mess. So I bought this due to the price and everything it offered, I wanted. Well I got it shipped to me and DANG..its VERY heavy and VERY big. I was not expecting that at all. I waited to have help to move it. In the meantime, I built a solid wood table to sit inside of a small metal shed. Bought shed just for the saw. Sigh. Anyway...built heavy wood table to fit...drilled holes into table and bolted saw to table. It aint going nowhere now. BUT the shed being small..i knew a 2x4x8 wouldnt fit in the shed..soooo I cut a hole in the side of the building to be able to run a board out the side...then i covered the hole with a rubber type flap. I have not used the saw yet since its only been a week...but it looks big and scary. LOL I am use to using small tools. I still need to learn to use it but it looks pretty simple. I will update once I have used it...but I am happy with my purchase so far. The shed..thats another story. UGH. I can say one thing..this will be alot better for cutting small plywood type projects or 2x6 or larger boards. I dont like using hand saws. I can never get a straight cut. My hands arent that strong to hold on like that. Maybe I needed a table saw too. thats next. and sawhorses. For yrs I have used crappy plastic cheap sawhorses that fall down on me all the time and no place to cut. an uneven yard is the best i have. But I am excited to finally have something descent to use...as i said..i will update once i have used it for a project. ... show more

  • Powerful, Perfect Level and Square, LED Shadow, Good Value
Style: 10'' Miter Saw
I purchased this saw to replace my Chicago Electric 10 inch miter saw from HF that I bought in 2021 as a novice. I successfully built the wood foundations for two Lifetime storage sheds bought on Amazon using that saw. I’m now interested in learning some DIY projects like making furniture and my old saw is not up to the task because the cuts are not smooth and precise. I read many reviews on Amazon and chose this Skil miter saw. The tag price was the same everywhere but there’s a 10% off coupon on Amazon for this saw. I immediately placed an order. It probably was the best deal on the market for an entry level saw. Amazon Prime shipping was fast. The saw is solid and well-made. The only con is it comes with a general-use 40-tooth blade. After I swapped it out and installed a 60-tooth finishing blade, this saw is fantastic. I checked the bevel level – it’s straight right out of the box - no adjustment needed. Also its LED shadow works much better than a laser line. All in all, it’s such a great deal especially with a 10% off coupon! Thank you Amazon :) ... show more

  • Great saw for the price
Style: 10'' Miter Saw
Compared to my 20 yr old Delta miter saw, this saw is a dream. Compared to other saws with the same features, you can’t beat the price in any big box store especially with a respected brand such as Skil. The box arrived quickly and the saw was well packaged and protected inside. Only a couple minor assembly steps needed to affix the clamp and dust bag. Out of the box accuracy was right on the money in most axes, though I have not yet checked the bevel angles. The manual has very detailed instructions on how to tune this unit in, but I found I did not need to do any. Only a couple things to note which knocked off one star. 1) as other reviewers have noted, connection to a vacuum took some rigging since the dust bag attachment outlet is 1.5” OD, meaning my 1.5” OD ‘standard’ hose would not fit. (In general I wish industry would standardize these things better and I hate using multiple adapters to get things to connect). Anyway, some jury rigging and gorilla tape got my vacuum hose connected. 2) even with my shop vac running, the dust collection is not that great and this guy can throw a lot of dust around. 3) the shadow line is cool and even marks where the kerf of the blade will cut instead of a center line, BUT it shows the kerf on the right side of the saw blade, not the left. Being right handed, I’m usually feeding and cutting from the left side of the blade and would like to be able to line up the shadow line to my cut line from that side. Maybe just me, but I see this as enough of a flaw as to make the shadow line useless in most applications, 4) the unit has a very short power cord (3’?), meaning I have to use an extension cord just to plug it into the power strip mounted on the side of my workbench. These issues aside, this is a very nice saw and well worth the money. I’ve already put it to use cutting several hundred mitered blocks for a project I’m working on. If you can get past the issues above like I did, then I highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Well built, lots of features, super accurate cuts.
Style: 10'' Miter Saw
The Skil 10" sliding miter saw is working great for me. I'm doing a stair tread and riser refresh using the cap-a-tread product. There's no way I could have done this without a sliding miter for accurate crosscuts where the tread overlay meets the stringers. Every tread is slightly different and this tool cuts perfectly accurate miters every time. The laser shadow line is a life changer! Align the shadows of the teeth against the cut line and you get amazing accuracy. Overall the tool is very well built from quality materials. The 10" size significantly reduces the weight vs a 12" model, which is important to me also. I bought the recommended stand too and that contributed to my good experience. I highly recommend the 10" Skil. ... show more
