  • Well worth the money, hands down!
Style: 10" Table Saw
Coming from an old Crafstman 10 in 15 amp contractor's saw that also had a cast aluminum table. What I really wanted this saw for was portability and the rack and pinion fence. I do all my work outside of my garage and while the Crafstman had an integrated stand with wheels, this one is light enough to carry small distances, but I just have a cheap folding hand-truck I keep with it to move into my backyard. Let's address some of the complaints people have had if you've been watching and reading a lot of reviews on this saw. I bough this mid April 2024 if anyone is reading later: 1. It's loud. I have plenty of other power tools that are loud. Use hearing protection. My circular saw is louder. 2. Almost EVERYTHING out of the box was perfectly calibrated! The only thing I had to adjust were the red indicator needles showing the bevel and the fence distance on the tape measure. 3. Tape measure is dead-on accurate. Read other reviews saying it was out, but 0-25+ inches this one is dead on. 4. Throat plate is plastic, but definitely not flimsy! Almost mistook it for metal at first. They may have beefed up the material under it that it sits on as well as It's not easy at all to push down and deflect. I easily got it flat using the adjustment screws, but it still wobbled in the back left-side of the riving knife. There was too much clearance there from the factory where the tab slips in the back. A few small pieces of painters tape on the tab and the "slot" and it's snug. It is also notched in the back so you can remove it without having to take off the riving knife and blade guard assembly, it just slides towards you and out. I think this is a new design. If you're looking to get a zero-clearance insert anyways like I am, this point it moot. 5. This is a new blade guard and riving knife design. It comes with a riving knife designed with one height, low, and no way to attach the blade guards or kick-back pawls, and also comes with one with one height, high, that the kick-back pawls can easily snap onto, but the blade guard can only be removed with screws, 4 in total, but loosening 3 will set it free. Sometimes I like the kick-back pawls still when the blade guard interferes with my push stick. I had no blade guard or pawls on my old Crafstman, so this is still an upgrade for me. Blade guard might get annoying at times, but I like it can lock in the "up" position so you can perfectly see the blade to set your cuts then drop it back to the "hanging" position. I think it cuts back on some of the dust shooting at you as well. The dust port elbow for someone like me that works outside with no dust collection is awesome! I always wear a mask and sweep (air compressor blow) when I'm finished, but having the dust shoot down keeps my clothes cleaner! There is quite a bit of plastic and aluminum in this saw, but it still feels quite sturdy! The rack and pinion probably isn't as smooth as something metal and I haven't experimented with any kind of lubrication (don't have dry lube and don't want grease or attracting dust or wearing down plastic.) But hey, $300 and 3-year warranty...I don't regret this purchase at all! I do all of my woodworking and metalworking in my backyard (California weather!) All of my large tools have to fit through a standard door on the side of my garage and be easy to set-up. Everything has wheels. When looking for a rack-and-pinion fenced table saw this was the only one in this price point with all of it's features and great reviews. I'd call myself an advanced amateur DIYer. I can work with dimensional lumber and do fine woodworking. At $300 LESS than the DeWalt, I'm happy I can spend that money on other tools now! Skil has really upped its game here...this ain't no toy, that's for sure. ... show more

  • Highly Recommended Table Saw with Smooth Cuts
Style: 10" Table Saw
I absolutely love this table saw for its affordable price and excellent performance. The alignments were spot on right out of the box, making it a breeze to use without any adjustments needed. It's lightweight, making it easy to maneuver and store. While the controls function well, I did notice that the blade elevation crank feels a bit rough, likely due to the absence of a separate elevation lock. The stock blade delivers incredibly smooth cuts, but I chose to upgrade to a combination blade for even better results. Just a heads up, ensure your blade kerf is at least 0.1” to accommodate the riving knife. Overall, this table saw is a fantastic investment for any DIY enthusiast or professional woodworker. ... show more

  • Worked better than I thought...
Style: 10" Table Saw
It was time to replace my old table saw, so I started looking around. I wanted a table saw fastened to a platform which could be rolled around to where you want it. You could find them, but they weren't cheap. The price on this SKIL saw was decent, so I ordered one, hoping for the best. It had no wheels, but at least it had legs. The legs looked really cheesy and flimsy, but after reading the reviews, I thought I'd order the saw and reluctantly test it. I'm glad I did! The pictures do not do the SKIL saw any justice. It took 30 seconds to set the legs up and it is sturdy! I was really surprised. I'm also really warming up to this saw without wheels. The legs fold up easily and fast giving the saw a small footprint and easily stored. I'm impressed. The table saw fence is sturdy and quite impressive. This saw will handle everything plus more than my old saw did. It has the power and extra features you don't find on other table saws. Get one, you won't be disappointed! ... show more

  • Excellent at this price point
Style: 10" Table Saw
An excellent product at affordable price. I verified all alignments and it was perfectly adjusted as delivered, no tweaking necessary. It’s lightweight and easy to move and store. Controls work fine but the blade elevation crank feels rough, apparently necessary because there is no separate elevation lock. The stock blade produces very smooth cuts, but I got a combination blade as an upgrade. Caution: the riving knife requires a blade kerf no less than 0.1”. At this price point, the miter gauge is very basic. Investing in a better one would make another nice upgrade. ... show more

  • Awesome table saw for the price with many options.
Style: 10" Table Saw
Table saw is really good. Setup was easy and minimal. Instructions are okay, some not as clear as they could be and the black and white 2D pics were not as helpful. Saw has a ton of features considering the price, including the rack and pinion gate, swing gate for additional support, guide stick, and easy adjustments. ... show more

  • Awesome table saw.
Style: 10" Table Saw
This is an awesome table saw. I really like it because the legs fold up to free up storage space. Another great design is the rack and pinion extended rip fence. Ripped a 2x8 board and it cut thru the board easily, effortlessly with perfect accuracy. The versatility, blade size, comfort and dust port are all great. Skil makes some great products for the price. ... show more

  • Pretty decent little saw at a good price
Style: 10" Table Saw
Great jobsite saw. Currently building a custom cedar fence and gates. Supplied blade cuts that cedar "like buttah." Seems very accurate. It's not my Harvey Alpha, but I'd need a forklift to get that thing out in the yard. Pleased with this portable table saw -and the price, too. I also bought the dado and zero-clearance throat plates since they were available. ... show more
