I think it is a very nice amplifier.
Size: 500 Watt RMS Class D Monoblock
The amplifier works and it sounds pretty good. I think it has plenty of power for the subwoofers that I am running off of it. The high level input wires could be a little better quality. Yet, they work and the amplifier works just fine. Thank you for the amplifier.

This is a great amp, hits hard and keeps on going. Only issue I have is that the fan has already gone out, making a lot of noises and not working properly. I will be replacing the fan with something higher quality. Other then that its a great amp.

This amp is awesome! Had a defective bass knob with the amp but didn't affect the performance. Contacted them and they had a new bass knob and wire sent to me free of charge and fast! The knob works great and I can now adjust the bass at full range. The amp does get pretty hot when using it for awhil
e but hasn't gone into protection mode yet. So we will see. Thanks again

I ran this mini 500W amp through my tests including RMS Power output tests using the SMD Amp Dyno. The little Skar amp performed as advertised, no surprises. Skar has an Amp Dyno as well and confirms their ratings with all of their amplifiers. See the attached image of the Amp Dyno results if you're
interested in the numbers. You can also see the size comparison to the Sundown SAM-500D, which is not only quite a bit more expensive, but also has the marine coating on the board (whereas the Skar does not). That said, I'd be careful using this Skar SK-M5001D in any environment where getting wet is a possibility. It's better suited for small spaces inside the vehicle. The amp powered the custom 600 watt 12" subwoofer (D2) in the acrylic enclosure with no issues. Sound was deep and dynamic with plenty of output. I also had a technician review the internal components and minus the old design of the driver card with known overheating problems, the amp was given a passing rating. Overall great value for the money. Dereck from Williston Audio Labs

Do not buy this amp! Quickly overheats and goes into protect mode. Update-Amp melted internally
Size: 500 Watt RMS Class D Monoblock
I am on my second amp, having returned the first for heating up and going into protect. The second does the same thing. I am only getting about 10 minutes of listening time before it shuts off. I have tested on a 2 and 4 ohm load and it shuts off with both, and it does not matter if the music is bass
heavy or not. Very frustrating because it sounds amazing, when it works. I have the amp mounted with plenty of airflow around it. UPDATE- I added a small fan and the amp worked great, until there was a loud pop and smoke began pouring out of the amp. I was listening to a podcast when it occurred, nothing bass heavy. I had to pull the fuse on my distribution block, the protect mode on the amp did not cut power. Please do not buy this.

Affordable, Compact, and ok performance
Size: 500 Watt RMS Class D Monoblock
Love the size and it's very affordable. I do have to say it doesn't have the cleanest sound, I had a kicker amp with this setup beforehand and it was much more crisp and clean. If your looking for cheap bass this is it, If you're looking for sound quality it is not.

Skar Audio tells the truth. This 500 watt rated amp definitely is at least 500 watts. You can see amp dyno tests on their website, and other people perform dyno tests on YouTube, and Skar amps do at least what they claim they will. Skar amps internal parts and design are shown in the pictures availab
le for the consumer. This reveal is impressive and a very cool advertising concept. The companies who don't lie about their product, or give the highest possible pulse peak watt rating, have the integrity to sell you a product that does what it is supposed to do. Skar has a two year warranty, where even the other highest quality companies have a one year warranty. I am, and always have been a Rockford Fosgate fanatic. I also believe that all the best companies have several grades of amplifiers. RF's Prime line has their lesser quality but most affordable products. The Prime 500×l amp costs a bit more than Skars 500×1(higher quality line) amp. I feel confident saying the Skar amp is a considerably better amp. Over all less money can be spent on Skar products for superior products with comparable quality and performance as JL, Rockford, Orion, Soundstream, or any higher quality manufacturer. I compared two RF p3d4 12 inch subwoofers to one Skar EVL 15 inch subwoofer, both wired @ 1 ohm to a RF 1000×1 bd (1465 watt) amp. I think the Skar EVL sounds better!
