Description

Skar Audio engineered the RP-800.1D Class D monoblock subwoofer amplifier to be dominant in both power and reliability compared to anything else on the market in its' class. Designing the most efficient, well built, high quality amplifiers is where we start here at Skar Audio, and that is exactly what is delivered in the RP-800.1D. The RP-800.1D is 1-ohm stable and utilizes a wide array premium internal components that make it extremely powerful and reliable - such as its high speed MOSFET power supply and advanced PCB board layout. Conservatively rated at 800 watts RMS power at a 1-ohm load, with the capabilities of reaching beyond 1,200 watts at max power output. This amplifier is by far one of the most popular and affordable mono-blocks we have ever released, and is great for powering a "daily driver" subwoofer stage in any vehicle. Furthermore, the oversized 4-gauge power and ground terminals found on the amplifier allow for maximum current flow and therefore higher power output and more efficient operation. You'll have full reign over your amplifier with the built-in user control panel, featuring a bass EQ switch (0, +6, +12dB), and variable adjustment tunings for gain level, low-pass filter, and subsonic filter. In addition to all the above features, this model also features 4-way protection circuitry, which will give the user the peace of mind knowing they are protected against damage to the amplifier for various reasons - including electrical shortage, over heating, low voltage, and more. This amplifier comes with a remote subwoofer level control (bass knob) allowing the user to have full control over their bass from the front of the vehicle.

  • Makes my 10’ Kicker L7S sound reallyyyy good!
Size: 800 Watt Class D Monoblock
Great amp for the money, it’s my first real amp though, so take that as you may. I’m running a 10 inch Kicker l7 DVC 4 at a final impedance of 2 ohm at 600 watts RMS. The sub kicks hard paired up with this amp, my twin brother has the same sub but with a RF 500.1D and it sounds good too but somehow setting the gain properly on this amp was easier, however they both sound really good. The sound quality to me is perfect, I didn’t want anything overwhelming and I wanted something that could add to the sound without making me have to replace all my factory speakers. It hits lows great and it has a good punch to it. I set the gains using a multimeter, didn’t need to use the bass boost. People recommend just not touching it because of the extra power that it draws within a certain frequency. But you won’t need it if you can see your gains the way I did it, it’s very simple. Just YouTube “how to set gain on amp using multimeter” and Sonic Electronics (I think that’s the name of the channel) had a great video on it. Other videos work too, of course. If you’re looking for an amp for a simple setup I highly recommend this one, yes there may be other good options but this is the route I took and I don’t regret it at all. Pro: Great sound Affordable Good looking Con: Nothing yet lol, knock on wood. Suggestions: please do run 4 gauge wire or even thicker like a 2 if you’re planning to run this at 1 ohm (although I don’t really know what the max size is that can fit into the amp), and make sure your fuse is rated high enough for this amp. Also, use wire ferrules to go into the amplifier so your wires don’t work their way out of the compression styled terminals. Electrical work on a car isn’t necessarily difficult but it can be very easy to screw up and the consequences are fairly dangerous. So if you’re doing it yourself just take your time and do it right. ... show more

  • Nice at the beginning.

SEE UPDATE BELOW! Original review on Oct 24 2019: I got the 800W amp and the gain is set accordingly to power my Skar 10" 600W RMS. Amp gets fairly hot after 10 mins of use at about 70%, but nothing out of the ordinary (~60°C). Power terminals are supposed to be 4 AWG, but they seem to be bigger. Had to use ferrules to make my wiring fit. The reason of my 4-star rating is because of the cheap remote wire they include. The plug broke during installation after a few connections (pic attached). UPDATE ON NOV 9 2019: Today in my 25-minute drive with my music at 70%, the sub turned off for like 5 minutes, 3 times. When I got home I checked everything, and I noticed the amp was incredibly hot. My guess is that the amp turned off 3 times because it overheated. I mean, overheating at 70% volume? Not good at all. That's why I'm switching my 4-star review to a 2-star. We'll see what happens in the next couple of days. ... show more

I'll tell you what the ratings of this amp are underrated by Skar so far nothing but quality from Skar at a extremely competitive price line. I run this amp at around 75-80% gain maybe 10% on subsonic filter and around 120hz on crossover with a 1frad cap and pushing 2 10in Kicker DVC Solo-Baric L5 in a Kicker ported enclosure wired from/by kicker in series/parallel to 4ohm and they hit hard but I rewired box to Parallel/parallel to 1ohm and sweat Jesus do they hit hard and move some serious air. My last amp. Was a MTX 600W Rms Bridged and wasn't even close to the performance of this Skar both at 4ohm and with the Skar at 1ohm well there not even close I am amazed by the quality, performance, and value of Skar and will be trying more Skar products for sure. I will update if anything changes and will post some pictures later ... show more

So, I've only had this installed for not even 24 hours yet but so far it's amazing! I'm by no means an audio expert but I feel for the price, this is a great amp. It all started when a buddy of mine gave me some cheap 10's and a boss amp. We installed them ourselves and I liked them but they weren't that great. I thought "well I might as well buy a decent 12" and see how I like that." I bought a Skar 12" with their enclosure and was immediately amazed at how well it performed. I could tell though that I wasn't getting it's full potential because I had to rewire it from 1ohm to 4ohms because the cheapo boss amp couldn't handle the 1ohm load. After a couple of weeks of driving with that I decided to buy a better amp (this one) and it is a night and day difference! This one of course was able to handle 1ohm loads and it sounds twice as loud and10x as crisp. The max time I've driven with this setup so far has been about 30 minutes but I didn't have any problems of it overheating or cutting out like some of the other reviews stated. This performed like a champ and I'm thinking maybe they hooked something up wrong or gain or something was too high, IDK, like I said I'm no audio expert. I will say that it goes perfectly with the Skar SDR 12" and I highly recommend this setup! ... show more

  • Tons of power, small package
Size: 800 Watt Class D Monoblock
The only thing I can complain about is a very noticeable power off "pop" if you will. My Rockville DB12 did not do that but was also significantly less power how it was wired and the sub used. I have this guy powering a Rockville W12K6D2, wired at 1.5ohm verified at the box connections. Running a "truck mount" amazon cheapo box behind the back seat of my megacab. This thing DRIVES. I listen to a lot of metal and some hip hop and it's comical how well it shakes my truck. Don't think about it, just do it! ... show more
