Description

Skar Audio engineered the RP-150. 4ABM marine amplifier to set a new standard in high power marine amplifier performance. This four-channel marine amplifier is 2-ohm stable and utilizes a wide array premium internal components, such as its high speed MOSFET power supply as well as an advanced marine grade PCB board layout. Conservatively rated at 1, 000 watts RMS power (250 watts x 4 channels), this amplifier will bring the speakers on your boat to life with unrivaled power output and sound clarity. The RP-150. 4ABM is extremely versatile as well with its compact physical design, which allows it to fit in a variety of tight or small locations on your boat. Also present on one side of the amplifier is a built-in user control panel that is fully adjustable - allowing you to dial in your sound exactly how you want it. Featuring adjustable controls for gain, high pass filter, low pass filter, a crossover switch, and more, you'll have full control over your listening experience. In addition to all the above features, this model also features four-way protection circuitry, which will give the user the peace of mind knowing they are protected against damage to the amplifier for various reasons - including electrical shortage, overheating, low voltage, and more. Our marine amplifiers feature a special marine coating internally that allow them to withstand the harshest conditions for long lasting use. Finally, the RP-150. 4ABM also utilizes a powerful cooling fan that is mounted on the inside back plate of the amplifier which helps keep the unit cool even at the highest levels of power output for extended periods of use.

This thing is great. Probably the best value for the money marine amp out there right now. You have a lot of flexibility in terms of wiring. Right now I have 8 4 ohm speakers wired in pairs to each of the 4 channels, resulting in a 2 ohm final load and doubling my power to $250 watts per channel. I have this mounted to the inside of my center console with a 1/4 inch spacer to help with airflow and it never gets too hot, even when playing full blast for hours. My only complaint is that there are no fuses on the amp itself, so you need to have inline fuses for it to function, not a huge deal but adds a little more to the wiring complication in the marine environment. Skar may get a bad rap, but both myself and the many other people I know who have products from them have never had problems. Take the time to install these correctly and set your gain correctly and you won’t have issues. Even when using cheap $70 Belva 8 inch speakers this thing sounds great. ... show more

Amazed !!!!!!!! This amp is hooked up to 4 jl audio m6 770s and let me tell you what !!!!! this thing makes them Rock !!!!! sound for days clarity volume !!!! the price is amazing for what this thing can do. will be purchasing a Skar amp for my tube if I decide to get one. the 4 770s put out some thump for no bigger than they are. and its all help from this amp. ... show more

This class A/B amplifier sounds great, there is a cooling fan on the back side that i lined up with my parcel shelf for proper cooling, it gets warm, but not hot. When i first powered it on, it sounded tinny, then i realized i had to connect the bass knob for the correct sound. I'm using low level input (RCA) straight from the back of my head unit. I had to add a ground loop isolator to remove the engine whine. I went with the 'marine' version because the white looks better in my trunk and it arrived faster. There is plenty of power for the PRV/Orion speakers in the doors/parcel shelf. Highly recommend so far. ... show more

Extremely low quality. Stay away. Do not consider this brand, or at least do not consider this model. It is a 4 channel amp and two of the four channels stopped working within minutes. Unbelievably frustrating to spend weeks wiring this new system into a boat over the winter only to have it fail the first time using the boat this spring. Since I did all of the work on the boat over the winter, it was well past 30 days when the amp was first used in the boat. So the 30 day return period is over. I spoke with Skar and they will test the amp, and replace it if it is found defective. That means I need to pack up a very large and very heavy device and pay even more money to ship a defective amp back. Throwing good money after bad. This also means I am still without an amp or music on the boat all this time during the very short summer season in the northeast. Do yourself a favor and go with a quality name amp. Yes, all manufacturers have their issues, but the ones that have been around for a long time have remained in business for a reason. Don’t let Skar ruin your summer. ... show more

So first off, I have a Sony headunit with dual RCA outs, the one with 6 channels of course was out of stock. No problem, there is always a way. So from the head unit I used the RCA to hook up to the equalizer which has the 6 channels out I needed. From the equalizer under the head unit I have a 6 channel RCA going to the trunk to meet up with a crossover, the crossover then uses a dual RCA to feed the mono block amp, I went with marine grade 800 watt matched to a Skar 10" 1600 watt, 800 RMS. Then I have a 4 channel RCA cable from crossover to 4 channel Skar amp, I went with 1000.4 marine amp. 2 farad capacitor for the mono block amp, I have 2 99' Maxima's so I bought 40' of 9 connector wire which goes from 4 channel amp all the way back to the head unit to power all door speakers. All in all it was just under $1,300 for everything, and you can't put a price on good audio, full install done by me and a help from my cousin. It's all wired up now and these images are from when I first started the install, I'm going to wait about a month till I make my amp rack so I can easily adjust or make adjustments easily before permanent install, sub is wired down to 1 Ohm and for a 10", it bangs. ... show more

This Amp sounds fantastic and is very well built. I had a 3 month delay in getting mine installed and then sadly one of the speaker terminal lugs stripped out when I was doing the install. The good folks at SKAR happily had me ship it back and rather than making me wait on it to be repaired, they literally put a brand new unit in the mail to me that same day so I was able to have it back in my boat and ready for the weekend!! In a time when customer service is non-existent, the good folks at SKAR set an absolutely new bar for GREAT Customer Service!!!! I have already referred them to 4 of my boating friends that are looking to update their sound systems!! Thank you SKAR!!! ... show more
