    • Highly ineffective buy something else
Do I have to pay for return shipping. This fish finder is highly ineffective regardless of all the cool bells and whistles. I have been on the phone with Humminbird support 4 times. I have done the software update with their SD chip that was sent to me. The first trip I put boat into the water the fish finder showed zero fish. It is not my first fish finder, so I tried everything to get fish on screen. Came home and contacted support for the 1st time. Suggested that I update software and they sent a SD chip to do so. The support at Humminbird suggested several option changes in the set up and we reviewed all settings with them on the phone. I did this with 3 separate techs on the phone while making adjustments with them on the phone. Changes included going to CUSTOM so that I could increase the sensitivity to 10, put 2D on max setting, change from freshwater to shallow salt water, turned off noise filter, changed the max depth from auto to set number about 10 feet more than current water depth and many other changes. The 2nd trip I put boat in the water with all their changes I showed a small number of fish in lake where I normally see many. I brought my 15 year old EAGLE fish finder so that I could compare screens. I installed the 2nd transducer on the other side of the motor with similar position placement. The findings were startling to say the least. The old fish finder showed easily 70% more fish at the max setting. I changed sensitivity several times form around 60-70% to get comparable results similar to new fish finder that has sensitivity set at 10. The fish ID on only shows large icons even with all three fish icons on in settings. It appears all other items are working correctly on the fish finder except the most important part - show fish on screen. Both lakes I fished at have large populations of multiple species and I should be seeing a lot more fish than I am seeing. The water conditions were both clear of any debris and water clarity is easily visible 5-10 feet down. If the sensitivity is not on 10, little to no fish show up on the screen. The last support person I spoke to at Humminbird said that if I sent it to them they would just send it back because if it is showing any fish then it is working correctly and that comparing it to my old EAGLE brand fish finder that is on a different frequency is not comparable. For the over $500.00 I spent on this major upgraded fish finder I am extremely disappointed and would like my money back and to purchase a different fish finder that actually shows fish on the screen. Expected it to function with the good reviews on their other products. Very disappointed and would suggest to everyone to consider my review before your next purchase of a fish finder ... show more
