As the new owner of an older Bridgeport clone milling machine, this book was recommended as a first purchase. Am I ever glad to have followed up on that advice! This book contains a myriad of descriptive photographs of assemblies, parts, and procedures. The print is in large font; oh so nice for these old eyes of mine. Applying the methods detailed in this book I was able to effect a repair of a faulty fine down-feed and feed-stop without having to purchase new parts. This book paid for itself the first day it arrived, and as it turns out, my new/old machine is a gem of a mill. Anyone looking to buy a used milling machine, especially a Bridgeport or BP-clone, should seriously consider purchasing this book beforehand. The information is without a doubt a viable source on bridgeport repairs. I recently rebuilt an entire machine, top to bottom and referenced the book several times and I achieved great results and now have a much tighter/ more reliable cutting machine

This book starts by defining what it IS- a refurbishment guide- and is NOT- a total overhaul guide. The various stages of disassembly, inspection, and reassembly are well supported by text and photos. It does a good job of filling in the understanding gaps for those who have studied the parts breakdowns in the manuals and are mechanically fluent but have not actually worked on one of these machines before. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is that it gets a bit brief in some sections. Overall well worth the cost. ... show more
