I spend a lot of time cooking for my family and knives are a daily need for me. I wanted to invest in something quality that would make doing my prep work easier and quicker. This set of 3 knives really help me get the job done ! These knives are beautiful and very sharp. They slice through even harder vegatables quite easily. They have a nice and ergonomic black walnut handle that's triple riveted . The blade is advertised as 67 layers of Damascus steel. The knives have a fishbone pattern on the blade that's quite attractive. The set comes with : 8 inch Chef’s knife 7 inch Japanese Santoku knife 5 inch Utility knife Gift box This is a nice gift idea that's very functional and useful! These knives do seem a bit on the pricey side for a set of 3 but I am getting lots of use out of them. These knives are great! They are completely as advertised! The pattern is true and deep. You can feel the Damascus folds in the metal. I'm 100% satisfied and my wife wants to buy a second set for display since they're so wonderful! One thing I wasn't expecting was how heavy they were. It's a good kind of heavy too. They feel solid and the weight in the handle helps all your slicing motions and makes it feel like you have more control over the knife. Edit: So after having these for a while I had noticed my chef knife was slightly bent. I assume it happened during tempering since I couldn't fix it no matter how hard I tried (it always sprang back to how bent it was, which is actually quite a good sign). It said lifetime warranty so I contacted customer service 3 times with photos but they completely ignored me and never responded even once. It's very very frustrating when they say one thing but do another. But none the less, I still really like these knives. ... show more

The knives cut great. But the get rusty quick. They started to rust the first week after purchasing. Really nice knives it just really sucks that they keep rusting.

    • A very good first knife
I bought this knife for a couple reasons: 1, it claims to be high carbon steel (for 20 bucks???)2, the marking on the knife is beautiful. I am fairly happy with it after a couple months of light use. It's slightly handle heavy, I am used to handle heavy knifes so it doesn't bother me but you should be aware. It still passes paper cutting test after one month of light use, both sliding and pushing on a piece of A4 paper and cuts with no problem. I think it's a good gift for a new chef as a first knife, I don't dare gifting it to any of my chef friends though. I added it to my knife collection, it's not my favorite knife and not my first choice of knife, but I am happy with it.Hope this is helpful to you. Someone asked me if it's made in Japan, it is not.
