Being paralyzed requires me to have a topper on my matress. I tried the "alternating air" type but it was not comfortable. This egg crate mattress is fabulous. It runs wide for a twinsize , so I had to trim 3" off, it was easy. Since I can only sleep on my back , I needed this egg crate topper to avoid bed sores, and it works! It's around 3" thick and was 95% expanded after 3 hours. Don't believe all of the reviews that say it's thin, it's just right!

Very comfortable on bed. Love the egg crate topper to sleep on. Don't feel hard mattress any more. Sleep so much better. Worth the cost. No smell. 2 inch was perfect. It took only half day to go up to size if that.

As hubby was recovering from surgery, we had hoped this mattress topper would provide an extra bit of comfort AND coolness during recovery. It was a little more comfortable but after about a week, it soon tore all the way across the middle, where the butt was probably placing pressure. My husband is not overweight at only 165 lbs., and we never dreamed this would happen. We have tried several different types of tape to get the topper to be usable, but that doesn't work, and nothing seems to hold it together. Now it worthless!

I bought this for my husband’s bed-ridden aunt, and it fit the hospital bed perfectly. I also bought two deep-pocket fitted bed sheets from Amazon to go with it. That was also a perfect fit. The Twin XL of both were the size. The quality of the topper is spot on. I had bought another one previously from a big box store, and it came damaged. I researched this one a little deeper, and I’m so glad I did! My husband’s aunt loved it and slept like a baby last night! There were no smells, and the thickness was almost 3 inches, but I wasn’t really expecting it to fully expand to 3”, so that’s all good. She picked out the colorful one, and it looked just like the picture. It seems to be just what she needed, and the quality is excellent, so far. A++++

Like everyone else has said it's not even close to being 3 in. It's barely 2 in thick. I don't know how these companies can just lie in their advertising and Amazon won't remove the misrepresented content. That said, it still does provide a fair bit of comfort.
