Top Amazon Reviews

  • Works well for the price
There seems to be a lot of different products covered in these reviews- This is for a LSLYA RK-680. Single DIN, 6.9" screen with volume knob, wireless android auto, 1xUSB A charge only, 1x USB C charge only, 1x USB A data and charge. This was a really cheap head unit. I installed this in a 26yr old car. A brand name head unit might actually be worth more than the car is, so that was off the table for me. The unit has a lot of flaws, but for the price, consistent flaws can be worked around. Inconsistent flaws would still sink the ship, but aside from the rare rebootable freeze, I am not yet aware of any. The Good: 1)Radio works. reception is not as good as OEM, but it's good enough for SF bayarea. 2)Android Auto works with wireless or USB mode. Android Auto has it's own set of flaws but I believe Google would be responsible for those. 3)Sound quality is good enough for me- on par with OEM. In a 26yr old car, road noise is the biggest obstacle to sound quality. 4)supports backup camera plus one extra video in. 5)touch screen is responsive- there is a slight delay in android auto, but it is manageable. The Bad: 1)included instructions were for a totally different product: Double DIN with different ports and many more features. Luckily, the rear connections were the same for both models. There were NO connection labels on the head unit, none whatsoever-just a bunch of nameless plugs. 2)included backup camera was terrible. Advertised as 170degree view, turned out to be 70 degree horizontal(35degrees each side), so you're blind to about 4' behind the car, with a 10 degree offset to passenger side(the sensor does not line up with the body), and 40degree vertical view, so if you want to see the ground behind the car, you won't be seeing anything higher than 2' in the distance. Judging from the size of the seam in the plastic, I doubt it was waterproof either. Toss the camera and buy a new one. 3)Radio is not user friendly- has 3 FM bands, but only 1 is usable. If you browse the stations, it will always return to band 1. This just means you have 6 presets, not 18. 4)if you mute the volume then turn off the car, next time the unit powers on it will default to 10 of 40. Fairly loud for me. 5)android auto can result in crashes. Not sure of the cause(s), but suspect it has to do with losing wifi or bluetooth connection. Disabling wireless android auto seems to fix the problem. 6)some crashes are not rebootable short of turning off the car and the reset button "factory resets". Again, crashes are rare and may be related to me trying to keep Android Auto from hijacking my phone every time I use the car. Disable wireless android auto- in the "Android Auto developers options" on phone. The Bad is deceptively long. none are deal breakers. It is not clear if the crashes are the fault of Google or the head unit. A modern head unit for less than the cost of a tank of gas can be considerably less than perfect and still get 5 stars from me. If it breaks within a year, I'll change my vote. ... show more

  • Excellent value. What a deal.
What is the price of this unit? Exactly. And for that, it is an amazing unit. Fully functional right out if the box. Intuitive set up. SIMPLE wiring (took me 30 minutes while distracted to wire everything). Simple install. And it worked the first time. Touchscreen is as precise as my iPad. But not as good as Samsung touchscreens. Could easily sell for double or triple, and it would still be worth it. Fit perfectly in my original 1995 JEEP Grand Cherokee Limited. Does not look out of place like the bigger screen models. Bluetooth, backup camera, etc. What a steal for this price point. Be SURE and get wire harness adapter and installation adapter for your particular car/manufacturer. ... show more

  • Closer to 4.5 stars but impressive value
For a budget-friendly radio, this one delivers a lot for just $60! The Bluetooth connects instantly without any hassle, making it super convenient for hands-free use. Android Auto requires a USB connection, but I prefer using Bluetooth, which works great. The sound quality is solid, though I suspect my truck’s small factory speakers are the limiting factor. The backup camera functions well, though not as crystal clear as advertised—but it does the job just fine. I think any minor interference might be due to EMF from the spark plug wires, rather than the unit itself. The touchscreen responsiveness could be slightly better, but for a sub-$65 radio, it's more than acceptable. One minor downside is the remote control only works when pointed directly at the radio, which limits its usefulness a bit. Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable upgrade with solid features, this is definitely worth considering. ... show more

  • Very very good for the price! Great budget option for older cars with single DIN stereos.
I have put CarPlay stereos in the last 3 cars I have owned. It cost between $600-$1000 to get CarPlay on those past few cars. I bought this stereo for cheap since I'm putting in a car with low quality features that didn't have a functioning radio to begin with, so my expectations were low. I am happy to say that this stereo exceeded my expectations for the price. I will say that the materials are cheap feeling, and I don't really know how good the audio quality is because the speakers in my car are crappy to begin with. However, the radio works perfectly. AM/FM both work. Bluetooth works great and connects more quickly than the radio in my Porsche! The CarPlay is PERFECT. I have been using this radio for about a month, and with the wired CarPlay there hasn't been a single time where it didn't connect or froze up on me. The radio is also a lot more responsive than I was expecting. The touchscreen feels cheap, but it is very responsive and fast. I didn't even bother installing the back-up camera or steering wheel controls, but the fact that this is not a true single DIN sized stereo. It's a bit bigger, so it is going to stick out some and may get in the way of your AC controls if your car's stereo is a tight fit. I was able to get it to work for me, but it is worth mentioning. One last thing to mention, some reviews complain that the wired CarPlay didn't work for them. There are 3 USB ports on the radio. Only one of them is functional with CarPlay (I believe the bottom type-a port). Keep that in mind if you are having trouble. Overall, I can't complain about this at all for the price. I will outline the pros and cons below as a summary. PROS - Cheap - Easy to install - Clear instructions about the wiring - Backup camera included - Responsive touch screen - surprisingly fast CONS - Pretty cheap feeling - A bit bigger than single DIN so fitment may be tough - Probably doesn't have a great pre-amp built in (just based off the size and weight of the thing). - In very bright sunlight the screen isn't quite bright enough. ... show more
