    • What happened to quality and simplicity, Singer?
Pure junk. Waste of money. This is not the Singer quality I once knew. Made cheaply of plastic, and it won’t sew 5 stitches in a row without jamming. Make no mistake, this is a piece of cheap junk. Very disappointed in Singer. I think it has to do with the complex new design of the bobbin holder. It takes a rocket scientist to thread the bobbin and insert it into the front correctly. Then you can’t see how much bobbin thread is left. What ever happened to dropping the bobbin in from the top and pulling the thread into a simple notch? I fussed with it for over a month before I gave up. It was too late to return it. I was going to throw it away but my teenager asked to keep it, saying they could watch a YouTube video to correctly thread the bobbin. Nope. They haven’t made it work yet either. I might call Singer and see if they will still refund this purchase. They used to stand by their products. Do they now? We’ll see. Bought a Brother instead. Now I’m sewing perfectly again. I was convinced nothing could be better than a Singer, but now I see the real “Singer” is gone for good. ... show more

So far, it's the quality you expect from a Singer. I haven't tried sewing denim or anything too heavy yet. I actually have a heavy-duty machine for that purpose. My only dislikes are about the bobbin compartment. It's a front-load, so you have to take the accessory compartment off every time you need to change or reload the bobbin. It gets to be a pain. It's a hassle, too, having to hold the little handle of the bobbin cage just right to get the bobbin to seat correctly. All of my other Singer machines are drop-in, so changing the bobbin is simple. I really miss the load-in-place of the old Touch-n-Sew machines. Those bobbins unscrewed, too, so taking old thread off a bobbin was a breeze, instead of having to sit and unwind it. The free-arm is a bit bigger than I would like it to be, so sewing things like wrist bands isn't quite as easy as with a couple of my other machines. This machine is really lightweight, though, so easy to move and set up anywhere. The case doesn't have any sort of strap to secure the machine, though, so I need to cut a couple of slots so I can add a strap. ... show more
