Took up sewing late in life & bought an older used machine (different brand) from a friend but had trouble with bobbin casing, so I bought this machine for a fresh start. I chose a model on the lower end of the price range, but not the cheapest, because I want to enjoy sewing without frustration. I dont need alot of bells & whistles! Have had it for over a year & am happy with it. I mostly just use it for clothing alterations, repairs & hemming. But have made several items without any issues with material thickness differences, thread tension errors nor thread disasters! This machine has a good variety of stitch designs & is easy to thread & navigate. My only two fusses: The Auto Thread Feature is not easy to use. Needs some further engineering upgrades! I gave up trying to use it. AND The machine does not come with a Manual. C’Mon Singer!!! - How much could it possibly cost to respectively include the Manual? Overall, am happy with this machine.

I bought the Singer M1500 for my wife, and she absolutely loves it! The machine is super easy to use, even for beginners, and it has all the essential features she needs for her sewing projects. The stitch quality is excellent, and it runs smoothly, making her sewing experience so much more enjoyable. The design is compact but sturdy, and it doesn’t take up much space, which is a bonus in our home. She’s already made several beautiful items with it, and the versatility of this machine is fantastic. It’s a great value for the price, and I’m so glad I got it for her. If you've sewn in high-school, then you shouldn't have any problems. So easy to set up and use. If you've never seen before then this is the perfect machine for you. It does come with some instructions and access to a video for instructions on use. Before you even touch anything on this machine after unboxing it, go to Singer.com and watch the tutorial on how to operate it! When I opened the bottom to thread it the metal ring with clips that holds the parts in so you can safely remove the bobbin holder was not clipped in and the entire piece fell out. Luckily they have a great short video on how to thread and operate all the functions on it and I was able to put it back together correctly. Having said that, while I'm not a pro seamstress, I do know how to operate a sewing machine and I can tell you that a beginner would not be able to just set this up and sew without watching the tutorial. You're definitely going to have to put forth an effort to learn how to thread it and all of it's functions if you're not familiar with a sewing machine because the instructions are confusing and not very helpful even for someone with experience. It jams very easily as well. It is definitely light weight though and the foot pedal is a dream come true. I'm happy with it for the price.

I was initially happy with this machine, as it worked perfectly for the first six months. However, it soon developed issues: the thread started snapping, and the machine frequently jammed in the bobbin area. Luckily, it was still under warranty, so we sent it for repairs. The repair experience, unfortunately, was a nightmare. The technician kept the machine for over five months, citing a heavy workload whenever we called for updates. When we finally received it back, the door covering the bobbin was broken, so we had to tape it shut just to use it. After two days, it broke again. With the warranty now expired, we’re left with an unusable machine. Sending it back would likely mean another months-long wait with no guarantee of a lasting fix. At this point, I strongly recommend looking into other brands; we’ll be doing the same. This machine has been a disappointing investment in terms of both quality and customer support.
