  • Best buy for buck
Style: Sewing Machine
Great machine it is easy to use and it performs they way you operate it. Just lea3n your thread and tension and the machine makes it easy there are videos online if you need to get familiar with the workings of it but it pretty simple and sturdy. I'm satisfied with it and I have done a lot with upholstery in the past, you can sew multiple layers (just put a good needle in it first, titanium for me,the needle that comes broke instantly). Buy it try you'll like it. ... show more

  • Absolutely fantastic machine!!!!
Style: Sewing Machine
I have been sewing for many years. I have a Viking and a Baby Lock sewing machine. I wanted a machine that could sew through thicker layers than either of these can and this machine is fantastic. I am not a quilter but I sew almost every day making new things or repairing new and older items and this machine is wonderful. Filling the bobbin is a breeze and the machine is very sturdy and the stitches are even and you have a good variety of lengths and widths. I love this machine. It is a wonderful bargain for the prize and if you watch the lessons on YouTube about this model you will be fine. This is a very, very good product for both beginners and old pros as well. I am thrilled with this machine and highly recommend it to anyone!! ... show more

  • Love!
Style: Sewing Machine
What is not to love about this machine. I have had it for 6 months and I am repurposing/ redesigning clothes, alterations and sewing clothes. I have worked with many different Jean materials and it lives up to its heavy duty name. Durable, sturdy, easy to clean and easy to use ( a lot of you tube videos if you need help). I use to sew in high school many years ago and was able to pick it right back up. ... show more

  • A Classic General Purpose Mechanical Sewing Machine Without The Electronic Complications.
Style: Sewing Machine
The Singer Heavy Duty 4452 Sewing Machine with Accessories, 32 Built-In Stitches, and 60% Stronger Motor is like our family AD 1950 mechanical sewing machine product with modern mechanical design. For general purpose everyday sewing the stronger motor is compatible for most fabrics. The simple mechanics in this product is what makes it reliable as compared to product with electronic circuit boards. If something goes wrong in the many years of use in this product, I intend to service this sewing machine product myself and access to the inside of a product is important to me. GrandMaMa has been sewing in our family since the early AD 1910s. Though there are many great sewing machine products available today few are as reliable as the Singer Heavy Duty 4452 Sewing Machine. I can only want a 100% USA made sewing machine product but that is not available as yet. Remember that 100% USA made washing machine from the AD 1920s that can clean 300 pounds of dry clothing? Remember the AD 1970 Buick Skylark and AD 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass-S vehicles? They are all extremely durable when the user takes care of these mechanical products. Now with the computer logic circuit boards inside many late designed sewing machines giving more features controlling the motor makes a complex and less reliable product. Without lead in the circuit board components (because of political mandated regulations in the electronic industries there is no more lead in electronic circuits or their component parts,) many overheated circuit boards under long time usage. The circuit tracings using SMT (surface Mount Technology used in manufacturing since the early 1980s,) overheated and the electronic components then come off the circuit board tracing. The lead when used in the past will stay attached to the circuit board tracings in spite of the hot operational temperatures. Keep the product simple, reliable, and access for the user when the product requires service. This Singer sewing machine product reflects upon the time period when products were designed and made to last a long while. ... show more

  • An absolutely adequate machine
Style: Sewing Machine
This machine sewed beautifully right out of the box, and has many useful stitches- straight, zig-zag, blind hem etc. and one that mimics a serger. I love that one as I do quite a bit of mending. I've been sewing for 50 years, so fortunately I could easily figure out how to use it. It did NOT come with a printed manual. ( The manual is available online). It did not have a quarter inch foot. (It never claimed to). No sneaky sewing with this one- it's very noisy. As with any new machine, there is a learning curve, but it's not too steep. ... show more

  • Great, Simple, Heavy duty
Style: Sewing Machine
I don't do anything fancy. I just repair and make outdoor gear for myself. I really like the power and beefiness of this machine. Seems like it could do alot of the fancy stuff too. Hope it has longevity.

  • Easily cuts through stacks of cordura, webbing and the like
Style: Sewing Machine
I needed something that could go through a stack of 2 layers of 1000d cordura, 2 layers of 17337 webbing and a layer of spacer mesh (all at once), and this melts through it. I had a Brother CS-6000i, and while I did a surprising amount with it, it would struggle on the aforementioned areas. This machine cuts through it like butter. Another plus, since you can set the needle position both to the left and right, you can get the stitch on webbing around buckles much tighter (closer) to the buckle than I could with the Brother. Take some time getting used to it before doing anything important. Whereas I had the tension on 9 with the brother, this does the same on tension 3. The foot pedal, while very good at blasting through things, need a gentle touch for slower stitching. The installed 100/16 needle broke quite quickly (I was kinda abusing it, seeing what it could do), replaced with a Schmetz 100/16 and no problems so far. The only really con I see is that it needs to get off to a running start. The minimum threshold for getting the needle moving is a bit fast, doesn't leave much time to turn for curves and the like. I foresee making ample use of the hand crank for more sensitive areas. Edit: I have found that using the hand crank to give it a bit of momentum while lightly pressing the pedal can get it moving at a slower speed from the get go. ... show more
